Diablo 3 isn't going to be a WoW type MMO with big raids end bosses, etc. If anything it'll be more like Guild Wars, small scale stuff.

Why? It's the same company making them, in virtually the exact same setting.

Star Craft MMO on the other hand could be really cool. It would give them an oppurtunity to step out of the class molds that are present in WoW and really make something original.

Some people prefer the Diablo style of play, over the Everquest clone that WOW is. WOW is nothing like any other Blizzard products.

And Warcraft is nothing like EQ.

If they adapt Diablo to an MMO it would be virtually identical to WoW since its settings are indistinguishable from each other.

It would be completely redundant.

He's referring to a Diablo MMO...which I would agree would hardly be any different than the current WoW game that is out, only a bit darker.

A starcraft MMO on the other hand with a sci-fi element wouldn't cut into their current subscription like a Diablo MMO would.

I'd like a well done sci-fi mmo. It needs to be done considering no one has gotten it right yet.

Actually, I picture a Diablo MMO being more akin to UO, and nothing like EQ.

WOW is an EQ clone, Zan. You can say a Chevy is nothing like a Ford, since they are engineered differently, but both come from Ford's auto design, just like WOW was obviously designed from the LOS EQ people copying the original EQ design.

FPS style RPG play, Questing, Identical levelling format, AD&D/EQ class structures, similar grouping setup, raiding, and guilds. It is an EQ clone through and through, whether one will admit it or not. Granted, it's an improvement over the original, but it's still the same format and play styles through and through.

I'm still waiting for a great Privateer style game. Eve is good, but I don't like it's setup and detest it's flight modeling.

Wing Commander Online plz.

I never said WoW wasn't like EQ, I said Warcraft wasn't. You know the RTS game that is nothing like either EQ or WoW.

If blizzard were to make a Diablo MMO it would be exactly like WoW because the setting is identical.

Ah, my bad. Sorry, I misunderstood ya.

Why not make something completely different though with a Diablo MMO? They have the inhouse talent and funding to go in a completely different direction? Diablo to me seemed very different from the Warcraft RTS games, although WOW seems to have borrowed liberally from both franchises, I think.

I still maintain a Shadowrun MMO, if done right, could do really awesome. Cyberpunk elements, fantasy elements, fast vehicles, remote controlled drones, computer hacking stuff, Really Big Guns.... Oh yeah, short of doing a SWG-style fuckup hatchet job on the game, it couldn't fail.

Yeah, I wish SOE had put the cash into PS. Early PS beta when there were hundreds of people on each side with large wars was about the best 'Massive' in the MMO game that I've seen or played.

The game was SO close to being great, and then they tried to copy the fucking EQ model, with tons of zones and their typical expansion bullshit..

Shadowrun wouldn't attract the hordes of bnet kiddies and Asians that make up the bulk of todays MMO sales, Arlos. That's mainly for geezers like us who revel in the goodness of Shadowrun Pen and Paper and SNES game worlds.

You are both incorrect. SNES version was the best.

For years i've been saying a shadowrun MMO would be the best thing to ever grace a computer. Theres so much there to draw from how could it not be amazing.

And the genesis version > snes .
