Guild Banks

Postby The Kizzy » Thu Dec 29, 2005 9:39 am

Just curious here what some do with there guild banks. After taking over our guild bank (which filled up 2 characters, all bags, and bank, and 2 bank bag slots with Runecloth bags) I have wondered what the hell are we hoarding this crap for. I gave alot of the green items to guildies who needed them for an upgrade for them or alts, and then put the rest of the crap up on AH and made a few 100 gold in the process. That still leaevs me with MANY set peices. THey just sit there. The old way to do it was to trade something of equal value for let's say Wildheart Gloves. My arguement was to give this first set gear away to our core raiding group, as they are the ones who are always running the Scholo and Strat raids. I also think that paying for repairs from our MC raids and ZG raids might be a good idea, but I am sure that can get expensive, quickly. So, the question remains, what do we do with our guild bank? Some suggestions would be appreciated. I truly believe that the guild bank should be given back to the guild, and not just sit there collecting dust.

WWJD?

Sell it all and give the gold to charity, then dress up in a blanket and hike across the desert to hang out with Mary Magdeline at that crazy wedding party where they ran out of wine and had to call in the Big JC to hook them up with some 80 proof.

Doesnt your guild have enchanters? DE the green/blue crap and upgrade everyones armor and weapons. give the runecloth out to tailors or for faction quests, use the leather for LW and faction quests, give the meat to... well I hope you know who you should be giving your meat to. After that is done you wont need all those bank slots.

Oh give it to me :p

seriously tho, I am a firm beiliver is professions, get em, use em, max the bitches out because you never know when you are gonna need that heavy runecloth bandage or the +stat foods and everyone loves it when you make their alts top o the line armor and weapons, everyone needs bags, you get teh picture.

Maybe try to encourage people to work skills by helping to pony up some of the cost. It took me about 120g to get to 300 DS LW and alot of it I was skinning myself, occasionally I would get lazy and jsut buy leather, but not too often because the crap was soooo expensive. Better yet buy/distribute rare recipes/patterns

Most Blue items we get from Nef/Onyxia/Rag I store for a maximum of two weeks, with all items on my bank mules listed on our guild forums. If no one wants them after they have been there two weeks, I liquidate them in the AH for a little cheaper than the going rate. Our bank is steady above 10k at the moment, and we usually spend money on Flask reagents and other tradeskill mats, mostly alchemy pots.

Random off the junk at raids or sell them to pay for repairs. When you get dupes in MC and crap sell them on the AH to pay for repairs in BWL. We usually have around 100k on the guild bank.

Our guild bank does not pay for repairs, if you want to come to the raid you can shoulder the few gold for repairs in the end. However, the guild bank does supply materials for enchants, high end tradeskill items (ie flarecore gear for fire resists, etc), and other such items that are usually of a higher cost to people if they were to get them in the AH. The system we use is that if a person gives an enchant/tradeskill regent to the bank they get a point value for the item they turned in, they can then use those points to trade in for enchants and such later on. It is much like a DKP system, but is totally separate and only applies to the enchant bank. For suiting up with resist gear we go down the list via lifetime raid DKP, it doesn't cost DKP to get your resist gear made as it is a needed item, but the people who raid most get their resist gear first.

Also, if by off chance you have any purple items in the bank, do not DE them. Save them for when the patch comes out and nexus crystals are implemented.

You'll be singing a different tune once you guys do Razorgore and Vael...adivina

When we were first learning I had 40g worth of repairs PER NIGHT. Assuming every item is red it takes 15ish gold to repair and thats just leather armor, much worse for those warriors.

Oh most definetly Taxx! We are not at the point of doing BWL right now though. Our raid schedule consists of clearing MC up to Rag (still working on that FR gear for people), clearing all ZG bosses inc. Hakkar (suprisingly easy motherfucker... I thought he would be more impressive.), and killing Onyxia. So our repair costs don't equal the BWL cost quite yet, so there is no need to pay for the guild out of the bank since it is pretty minimal.

Oh hell yeah. I went from 320g to 90g learning the stupid #@$#$ vael encounter. We finally beat him last month but now we're stuck at 2 percent again...

Anyways we have potion control officers that give out the necessary potions for raids so that's what we spend our guild bank money on. When we don't have enough donated herbs we end up buying them from the AH. Everyone is responsible for their own repair money atm.

With Vael though you start out at 30% (or close to that, I'm usually targeting players, not the mob) so really, that last 2% is more like 10% for a normal encounter. So slightly less insulting..but not much.

I've never heard of a guild not killing him without a few 1 and 2% wipes...very frustrating.

Vael is honestly the only encounter in BWL that still can give us trouble. Such randomness in and encounter really blows.

How long did it take you to finally beat him?
