WoW and Video Cards

Postby Ginzburgh » Fri Feb 02, 2007 10:15 am

My old "nice" card shit the bed and I had to get a cheapo card just to get my PC up and running because I couldn't afford a proper card at the time.

Now I am ready to drop a few hundred bucks.

Is this a decent card to play WoW:

I have a 3 GHZ and 1 Gig of ram. After I get a new card I will work on getting another gig of ram.

More RAM will help than that video card. That card is overkill for WoW.

Yeah, that's a great gaming video card, Ginz. It'll play everything on the market nicely.

The only thing you might want to consider is spending an extra 100 bones and getting an 8800 GTS, if you have no desire to upgrade again for a few years.

You can get this for roughly 100 bucks more:

If you go for the 8800GTS make sure you have a power supply that can handle it. That bastard sucks some serious power.

My 7900 GT (overclocked a bit) runs WoW at 75 fps. That 7950 would be even better.

Get an 8800 instead, it outperforms two 7950 GTs in SLI.
