Foot sprain.. sucky Podiatrist..

Postby Lyion » Tue Feb 22, 2005 10:06 am

Ok, back in early November I turned over my anke pretty severely.

I iced it down and it was walkable within a few days, but I still was getting sharp stabbing pain from my ankle to the tip of my little toe.

I hit the Podiatrist in mid December because the pain was not subsiding. He said I probably had inflamed ligaments and a sprained foot.

I spent a few weeks n in a minicast, and now I'm wrapping my foot in Lodacaine wraps to lower the swelling and stop the pain.

Ever see anything like this, Mop, and any idea how long something like this takes to heal. WebMD is all over the map on foot stuff. I can use it, but the stabbing pain is still there, and its irritating as hell.

You need to go back to the Podiatrist at this point. Seems like too many weeks to recover although if you were doing any heavy activity you could have reinjured yourself or delayed healing. Have you given it time to really heal? Did they take any xrays? Some times stress fractures won't show up on the films right away
A bone scan will be much more sensitive in diagnosing a stress fracture but you need to ask your Dr to see if he will order it.

I've seen him three times. I've gotten Xrayed, there is no break. His recommendation is PT, which I don't want to do.

I can't really stay off it full time but I've been trying to give it as much healing time as I can.

I'm irked. This is the first injury I've had that hasn't just 'healed'.

That's because you're getting old, Lyion. Injuries take longer to heal.

Die, whippersnapper. Don't piss me off or I'll break out my walker and chase you down.

Did he xray you all three times? Again, sometimes the first time it won't show up.
Specifically ask for a bone scan instead of an xray. You could get a 2nd opinion and instead of going to a podaitrist go to a foot and ankle specialist. If you were in my area I would send you to Myerson but no clue where you live. Myerseon did T.O.'s surgery.

Good Luck!
