ok Mop fix me

Postby The Kizzy » Tue Apr 12, 2005 2:27 pm

So I am working nights since I am going back to school next month. I usually work from about 5 to about 10-11pm. I come home, and I am not tired because I'm wound up from work, so, I tinker on the computer for a bit, maybe watch something Tivoed and about midnight I go lay down, with the soft white noise in the background, and my mind wanders for about 20 minutes until I can get to sleep. Then I sleep until 10 am or so, because I am too tired to get up, I get some housework and errands run, and can't wait to get back tot the couch to take a nap before my shift starts. I'm scared when I start school again, I won't be able to get up for my 9 am classes.

I did change my diet somewhat (lost about 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks).
I eat alot less, and when I do eat, I try to cut out sugar, carbs as much as possible.

Should I be taking multi vitamins or something? Please give me more energy. I don't work out more than at work, which I am constantly moving and on my feet so I think I have the cardio covered.

Thanks.

A Multivitamin may help a little bit, slowly cutting caffine out will help

Kizz I used to be tired all the damned timetil I started working out, its like the law of motion or something, (a body in motion tends to stay in motion, unless acted upon by beer)

The first few weeks I was worn the hell out, but after that I found I needed less sleep, I was more motivated to excersize, and I was more alert and up beat.

Try doing pushups/situps in the AM and night. Add in a walk or some sort of cardio to relax if you have the time, even if it's just walking around your home.

Eat more healthy carbs. They give you energy. Post exactly what you ate today with the times and I can give you some better advice.

Lyions idea of adding in some resistance exercises is good as well. I wouldn't do them before bed if you are wired. Try doing them right when you get home while watching your tivoed stuff and when you first wake up in the am. No exercise an hour before bed. Need to take time to wind down from your day.

yesterday for lunch I had some spinach/artichoke dip, and a burger and fries from Max and Ermas. Oh, and then a couple of there chocolate chip cookies. SO YUMMY. Iced tea. This was all around 1pm. Diet Pepsi around 5pm, and then water for the rest of the night.

I do walk ALOT waiting tables, and when I wake up, my muscles in my arms and legs ache and are very sore.

Only reason I am up this morning is because my roommate woke me up because a gas station 3 towns away has gas for $1.07, ut the lines are two hours long, and my gas tank is full anyway. I have to go look at new cars in an hour, so I figured I would stay up, but my eyes are watering, and I could so go back to sleep for a few more hours.

Based on the fact that your working out is coming from your job this is probally 75 - 85% of your daily caloric needs in one meal. THus creating either an overload of calories and causing lethargy or a starvation mode because you dont eat the rest of the day causing the body to be tired.

Usually, I don't have breakfast, I eat a Turkey sandwich for lunch, and for dinner, I eat a salad with steak or chicken on top, or grilled veggies and steak or chicken over a bed of rice. go go employee discounts.

Not eating breakfast is the first problem.

that meal gets yuour body out of starvation mode in the mornings cauing it to going bakc to burning fat instead of storing it. (thus giving you energy instead of conserving it) You should really try and get something for breakfast - if you cant eat solid foods I would suggest something like an odwalla or a cup of milk just to get the body out of the mode, it will help with energy through out the day. (and no a cup of coffee with an once of milk does not count.

What's an odwalla? ><

I usually have a fruit and grain bar or yogurt for breakfast, but this odwalla word intrigues me

Be careful cutting back / out the carbs - your brain needs them to function. Call and ask your doctor about the importance of carbs and why fad diets like Atkins are more dangerous than good.

Yes your brani needs 32 g of carbs to function a day, that doesnt mean you need cookies and cake, that means you should be eating greens and veggies and at most whole grain/brown rice based stuff which si what most of those fad diets work up too .
