Another Knee question.....

Postby Xaiveir » Tue Apr 19, 2005 10:11 am

For years i have had Petella Fermial diseas in my knee caps (rare disease that leaves calcium deposits behind the knees, grinding in the socket). I played catcher last year and was fine, in the off season i began feeling instability in my left knee, that feels like a problem with the ACL or MCL.

Back playing baseball now, ive been hampered by weakness in my left knee, without any pain at all. To describe it, would be it feels like my knee is filled with cotton, but to reiterate no pain at all.

When i get up from sitting and plant on it, it feels as if my tendons are getting squeezed.

Does this sound like a major problem that i should get checked out, or is there something i can do workout wise to strengthen, or to alleviate the instability.

Keep in mind on my right leg and ankle i destroyed it 4 years ago and i have had 3 surgeries and have a steel plate and 6 screws in my ankle to lower leg.

This sounds like what Gid had. He had a knee surgery to remove the calcium and his knees are fine, except when it is about to rain. Its like arthritus, but I like it because he can tell me if it is going to rain the next day without me having to watch the news for the weather :)

Yeah, go get them removed, Gid says it feels much better. Do it in the off season as you need to go to physical therapy for a bit after. After that, you should be able to play ball fine.

Knees and ankles are the worst injuries aren't they? They can be career ending and take awhile to heal and linger once you fuck em up.

I had knee surgery in 7th grade because of the calcium deposit in my knee. They called it an ostrocondolma (sp?) though. It was caused by calcium deposits and it grew into a tumor type thing. Hurt like hell untill it was removed. It doesnt give me any problems now other than it being sore on occasion.(after workouts and such)

But both of my knees make a popping and grinding noise when I bend them >< I think its from all the activites I have been doing since I was little.
