Treadmill?

The lady wants a treadmill for her birthday. While I'm not rich, I figure I could plunk down an initial $50 and she can take the monthly payments from there. She's motivated, and I'm certain she'll use it. Her problem is that she hates working out in public, so she doesn't want to walk around the neighborhood or in a gym at all.
Any input as to what's a good investment? There's a couple used ones in the paper from Pro Form (Sears) that are around $400, and a couple on sale for $600-800. Yet, there's also an old True (gym quality) for sale on Ebay nearby.

Shame she won't put the money towards a gym membership and suck it up. The fear thing should go away after a while and if you go with her that might help as well. At least have her go look at a gym and do a trial membership for a week or even one day.

As long as she is using the treadmill the type doesn't matter. Look for something that is stable and has good shocks. Pro Form is good. That's the one I gave away free to a co-worker. The old ones a few years ago are super heavy and a bitch to move. Hopefully the one you get will also be on the easier to move side as well.

Either way, come back here after you purchase it in 3 months and let us know if she is using it to dry clothing or actually walking =)

i have a proform bought from sears about 6 years ago. The only problem i had with it so far was when the circuit board controlling all functions stop working last year. That was easily solve by ordering a new one and replacing it. I have the one that you can fold up so it's not a problem if you need to move it around.
