Boy, 4, Found Wandering on D.C. Highway
Email this Story

Jul 27, 8:25 PM (ET)

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - A mother was under arrest Wednesday on child endangerment and other charges after authorities said she abandoned her 4-year-old son on the Capital Beltway, then struck him with her car when he tried to get back in.

The boy was treated at a hospital for cuts and bruises, police said. He later was placed in the custody of a child protective services agency.

Police picked him up after receiving a call late Tuesday night from motorist who said she had found a child wandering along Interstate 495.

"I said, 'Why are you out here?' And he said, 'My mommy left me. She was angry and she pushed me out of the car,'" the driver, who asked not to be identified, told WJLA-TV.

Virginia State Police said an investigation determined that Channoah Alece Green, 22, of Newport News, Va., abandoned the boy along the busy highway after she became upset with him.

"As she attempted to drive off, the child was trying to get back in the vehicle and was knocked down," said Sgt. J.L. Doss. That led to a hit and run charge.

State police said they found Green and were able to figure out that she was the child's mother after she was involved in a two-car accident on Interstate 95 north of Richmond, Va., later Tuesday night.

I cannot tell you how angry this so-called mother has made me.

A woman turned her car over in front of my house and was so jacked up on something she wiggled out of the car and hauled ass running while her five year old little boy was in the front seat screaming. I knocked her down from behind and slapped her to make her calm down. Angry, indeed!

My 4 year old so really knows how to push my buttons, but I can never see myself wanting to cause him harm like that. I miss him when he goes to his Dad's for the weekends. I can not imagine just throwing him away like a peice of garbage.

There should have been an abortion performed here...on the mother. That bitch don't deserve to live.

I remember getting tossed out of the car before

my brother and I were in the back seat, and just fighting like cats and dogs

we were heading out to grandma's and the parents had had enough, and dropped us off about a mile out of town, and drove off

My brother and I then ran all the way into town and found an arcade to play at for like 4 hours

mom and dad thinking they were teaching us a lesson of course just drove out of sight, then doubled back to pick us up, thinking we'd be all repentant

there was much giggles to be had by my brother and I when we strolled in for supper

not really the same as this thing, as we were like 11 or 12, in sight of a small town, and there was no traffic to play in even if we'd wanted to, but yeah

I think I was 11 when my mom pulled her car over to spank me. This was about 4 or 5 miles from home. I just bolted and spent the rest of the day walking home through the woods. I think it was the last time she tried that whole tactic.

When I didn't respect my parents, I got a time out. And an occasional mouthful of soap!
