um yes, just because it says "he hung himself" we think rope and a tree.
but impaling yourself on a sword is also considering "hanging"

there's a special documentary tonight on the national geographic channel if you want to know more about this gospel of judas stuff

i downloaded the translation and read it, most of it didn't make much sense because a great deal of parchment was unrecoverable. thus there are huge gaps in the texts and not much continuity-- but one thing i was able to get a clear picture of was that it seems jesus asked judas to do this thing only because He trusted him so much. He says (paraphrased) "people are going to hate you for this for a long time" but someone had to do it and He wanted it to be judas. pretty interesting stuff, i'm looking forward to the documentary tonight!
