alright have it your way

go ahead and have a good cry while we mourn the loss of this kid's father, and all the other fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, husbands, wives, daughters, aunts, nieces, sisters, moms, etc etc etc that won't be coming home in one piece because some guys in suits (i'm guessing most of which don't know any servicemen or women) thought it would be swell to order a war with no provocation, clear objective, or *gasp* exit strategy against a country run by a guy we put in power

so grab your kleenexes, this kind of shit is only going to keep happening as long as fuckfaces keep voting fuckfaces into office

It is an incontrovertable fact that over 3000 US servicemen (and tens or hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians) would still be alive today if we had never invaded Iraq. While we honor and remember the sacrifice of those that gave their lives, we must also revile and condemn the arrogance, stupidity and malfeasance by our government that led to them now being dead.

why?

what is stupid that i have said?

are you disagreeing with the fact that the men and women in our armed forces are still in harm's way?

are you disagreeing with the fact that many of them will yet die tragically, leaving behind bereaved families, neighborhoods, and communities?

are you disagreeing with the fact that most politicians do NOT have sons, brothers, nieces, wives, mothers etc in the armed forces?

are you disagreeing with the fact that those responsible for starting the war did so lacking legitimate provocation, a clear objective, and an exit strategy?

i'd like to see YOU, MARKARADO, FUCKSTICK LIVING IN MALAYSIA, bring incontrovertible evidence that casts me in the wrong-- or do you respond so juvenilely because you have nothing else to say? i hope that's not it. i hope you can enlighten all of us why MOVING TO A DIFFERENT FUCKING HEMISPHERE GIVES YOU GREATER INSIGHT ON WHAT A RIGHTEOUS AND BLAMELESS COUNTRY YOU USED TO LIVE IN THAN ANYONE THAT STILL LIVES THERE! AFTER ALL, I LIVE IN MALAYSIA I LIVE IN MALAYSIA I LIVE IN MALAYSIA I LIVE IN MALAYSIA I LIVE IN MALAYSIA

no one cares where you live, bring real knowledge or please shut the fuck up

The point is simply to remember those who have sacrificed while serving their country. The military is a dangerous job, and many die even in times of no world conflicts or issues.

I'd have thought the Memorial Day -> Remember segue would be good enough, but I guess not.....

I hadn't seen that photo yet; wonder how I missed it in the shuffle, but it's certainly heartbreaking =(

Im not going to get into the Iraq debate. Brinstar is spot on, on his points there. I do agree with them.

However, this picture is very sad. Regardless of the War, or reason, or even how he died. He did so in the service of the country.

I think everyone should be able to appreciate the picture.

Again, it was moreso about Memorial Day, not about people's political opinions or what not. Agree or disagree with policy. That makes us great. Memorial Day to me is about respecting people's sacrifices and honoring those who served America.

its unfortunate about the soldiers that lost their lives. No matter what the cost, its still sad. But i guess we have to not be suprised when someone dies because....Thats the bottom line of what they are there for. To fight. Death is inevidible in war... I just think it sucks that they have to die for such a shitty war... If thats what this even is....

okay okay you got me

i would thus like to recant my rantings and instead offer a respectful reverence of soldiers who gave up their lives in battle, no matter the objective. apologies for disrupting the original intent of the thread.
