No one made an AG resigning post.

Or Rove, or Tony Snow or....

What's the point? The damage is done and now they are all slinking away to let someone else come clean up the mess.

Tony Snow is a good guy and competent. Gonzales is a crony yes man. Huge difference.

Most will leave to get lobbying positions making big bucks before the administration changes. It happens with most administrations, and is part of the political process.

My biggest gripe with the Bush administration is they really have raised the bar of crony appointments to the Nth degree. All Presidents fill a chunk of positions with their own yes man type peeps, but it's been ridiculous with this administration.

I honestly felt bad for Tony Snow. Every day he was handed a big pile of shit and had to honestly try to lead everyone to believe that it really didn't smell that bad.

From all accounts on every single person NPR interviewed, democrat or republican, there was universal agreement that he'd been a flat-out terrible AG. There was particular concern over what he'd done to the Civil Rights division, especially. Where he completely changed their mission and direction, and had converted it from a nonpartisan defender of civil and voting rights for all citizens to a partisan attack arm that gerrymandered districts to help republican candidates and marginalized minority voters. Long-time uber-bright employees (Lawyers who'd been there 30+ years and were NOT appointees) quit in droves over the changes, resulting in a serious brain drain.

Then you add in his support of warrantless wiretapping, the funsies in the hospital room with Ashcroft, his comments about the Geneva Conventions being "quaint", etc.... yeah, he's easily a failure on a Rumsfeldian scale, if not worse.

Seriously, this administration, regardless of what else you think of it, you cannot deny that it has had some of the very WORST appointees to critical positions, ever.
