Yep. this is why I chose the ER when I was having imbalance problems, twitching on my right side, problems with my right side in general.

However...I still got a big fat bill, and they encouraged me to see a physican. So, basically I ended up with a $5000 bill, the knowledge that I have two lesions on my brain, the fact that they *think* I have Multiple Sclerosis and still, no insurance and no physician to treat me.

So, I decided to think like a monk and with the power of my mind, pretend there's absolutely nothing wrong with me. It's working so far.

Only if it is life threatening, otherwise they can kick you to the curb, and that still doesn't speak to the point that money shouldn't buy you health and it does in this country.

Hey EZ, next time you have the flu, put our wonderful system to the test, walk into ER, say you have no insurance, see how far you get and how you're treated. Then come back and talk about the wonderful treatment you received. Bring along the bill you'll get with your "free" treatment.

ah Clarke the treatment isnt free but the hospital cannot by law refuse you treatment. they CAN transfer you to another facility. this is about a daily occurance here. We get these so much we have a specific office dedicated to helping people pay for their services. Oh and any hospital will negotiate their service fees, they would rather get paid then have to file.
