i don't get what about leaving he presidency leaves a person desperate to make lots of awful decisions that are difficult to overturn, like many of the pardons presidents make

I'm not well-versed in the history of these types of situations, but I'd be interested to know if when the same party succeeded the current presidency if the same types of decisions have been made historically?

it seems that it's just some petty "really stick it to ya" partisanship move. he can't think that this is a good idea, surely? I mean yeah he's a disaster and an embarrassment as president and human being but I like to think that he's got a few brain cells floating around in there or some ounce of humanity. even the tiniest sliver of concern for others would be at least a little reassuring.

And since when has he ever acted in any way other than that he believes he is absolutely right about everything, with no allowance for any other point of view?

I try to tell myself that no one can be that stupid I guess. I try to think that there's got to be some grain of thought in everyone. you'd think that when even your own party doesn't want you at their convention you might say 'well damn, maybe I can try to do a little better the last couple months I'm here and go out with a little bit of dignity'

it's like he wants make sure every ounce of his legacy is laced with terrible, from beginning to end. I mean most logical people would want to be remembered for at least one good thing, you'd think, or in the very least, 'one less bad thing'.. but not him, apparently.

Bush pardons. Clinton pardons. One and the same. Get over it.

Lionking, we're not talking about pardons. We're talking about federal rules and regulations that Bush is enacting that have the force of law, that following presidents can't just undo, it is a major process. These are things like allowing powerplants to be built right next to national parks, making it harder to protect workers from hazardous chemicals, etc.

Completely and totally different from pardons. I'm sure there will be an uproar abotu those, too, but that's just letting crooks off the hook. THIS is about major changes in federal law that are being done at the last minute as part of a completely ideological fanaticism, to make it as hard as possible for sane future administrations to undo. *BIG* difference.

While not specifically about pardons, Bush and his last days and what he is making law is greater than any other president. Again he is making history in his failures, he has topped all other presidents in regards to his last days and the laws he is working onto the books. He is a failure at epic levels; no one else comes close and these last days are even more proof.
