Regardless, when I started this thread it was more about Steele and his sheer stupidity of the who's, how's, and why's of the war in Afgan.

Yeah, where he called Afghanistan a "War of Obama's choosing".....

Funny, given that it had been going on for SEVEN FUCKING YEARS when he was elected, I kinda fail to see how Obama had any choice in the matter whatsoever.

Speaking of idiotic statements by people on the right, how about this one from Rush:

Rush Limbaugh said on his July 2 radio show that he believes Obama tanked the economy on purpose, both as "payback" for 230 years of racial oppression and because Obama simply doesn't like America.

He railed: "Who is Obama? Why is he doing this? Why? Why is he doing it? Is he stupid? Is it an accident? Is he doing it on purpose or what have you? ... I think we face something we've never faced before in the country -- and that is, we're now governed by people who do not like the country, who do not have the same reverence for it that we do. Our greatest threat (and this is saying something) is internal."

Funny, I remember the economy collapsing at latest in September of 2008, when Lehman brothers went under, which was TWO MONTHS before the election even happened! and FOUR months before he took office! So, how, exactly, did Obama "tank the economy" when he wasn't even in office yet? And funny, while we're still in a hole, the economy has rebounded a great deal since he DID take office.... I just find it amusing that Rush isn't even TRYING to adhere to factual reality in the least any more. If he ever did, of course.

I think the reason you have morons like Rush and Hannity saying stuff like that is because Obama seems to take stuff so personally. He doesn't have the tact of a president and argues with the "common folk" during speeches, says he wants to find out who's "butts to kick" about the oil spill etc. He doesn't command respect and comes off as someone who's asking for permission rather than laying the wood. So they probably figure they might be able to milk a sound byte out of him. Maybe that's what some people want is someone who's "in touch with their emotions", but not me. I want a president that is badass and when he fucks up, comes out and says guys, I really thought that housing bailout was going to work, and I'm sorry that it fucked up, but we're moving forward on another idea....

Not someone that every time something doesn't work just blames Bush for it. Own it when you fuck up! Bush did the same thing. When you didn't find WMD, instead of continuing the war under that guise, just say that you hosed it and move forward instead of insisting something's there when it's not.

It's like Tiger not coming out and admitting that Elin beat his ass with a golf club. Just admit it and Americans forgive you, we're a forgiving sort and move on.
