short version: locally-known veteran rapper Breathless fakes her own death to promote a new album, titled "reincarnation"

on the one hand there's the argument that "no press is bad press" - and she's certainly more well-known now than she was a week ago - but imo it's a pretty shitty move. i would imagine that outside of a select few hardcore fans she pretty much alienated a big chunk of her base

Triel, her fans only have a relationship with her persona. She's just having a bit of fun with it. If my favorite artist did something like this I would think it's hilarious.

I get that Zan, and while I agree on one level the stunt is amusing, I'm pretty sure the hordes of fans who spent the evening in tears do not.
It was mean, and she's a self-indugent attention whore, but what else is new.

I think it's pretty brilliant, personally. if you spend the weekend crying over a celebrity's death (someone you don't even know personally, sad in and of itself) and then get pissed off when you find out they're actually alive, something is seriously missing from your life.

I get mourning talented individuals and being sad when you lose them.. but to be so personally attached that you sob and allow your life to stop and then all the sudden hate them when you find out it was for entertainment purposes (which, after all, is what their entire career in fact is) there are some pretty intense emotional voids there that need to be looked into.
