I worked for circuit city before i went to Comcast, before i worked there, their computer depatment had not made sales goals for the last 2 years. When I came in, every month I made and exceeded it. Raise time came, and they gave me a bad review. 10 fucking cents. at that point i throttled back and began slacking off, I didnt make goal that month. They came to me and asked me what was going on, I simply replied, " I am a bad employee, didnt you read my review? " after they pretty much promoted me and brought me from 8.75 to 10.75 an hour, id say i was happy for about 3 hours because after that they started to ride my ass. My roomate quit, when the manager walked up to him and asked him why he literally said " The Corporate ship is sinking, im bailing out " I thought it was so funny i was right behind him a week later, and my 2 friends as well the week after. The point of it all was, if they wanna bust people's balls, have a good reason, because if you just walk around your store giving your people shit, they are all gonna shit right back.

The best part was how my roomate quit, he was a pc repair tech that just worked on computers, he wasnt a people person. They pulled him out to the floor because as always, all their high school employees called in again to go get drunk and high. so he starts helping this lady who of course doesnt no shit and starts asking questions. so he basicly said to her " Congratulations lady, You are the customer that made me quit my job!" he literally smiled, shook her hand, she laughed and wished him luck and he walked out the front door, leaving the managers standing there with the most confused look on their face i had ever seen.

If they think that firing high paid employees and hiring a bunch of high schoolers is a good idea they should take some advice from me. I dealt with being the only employee in comuters and cameras most days for months, because their younger employees didnt get paid shit and didnt give a fuck, because 7.00 an hour jobs are a dime a dozen. It leads to being short handed every day, and when they are there, they were never disciplined because if you tried to, theyd laugh in your face and quit.

Good job Circuit Shitty. Im glad i jumped ship when i did

A lot of people in sales jobs let their floor performance go to their head. They forget that there is an operational level or "back end" that they have to adhere to. I don't know your situation so I can't say for sure if that's the case however it's radically counterproductive to punish your best employee which seems to be how you are representing yourself. Your productivity gives your higher ups a bigger bonus. Why do something to piss you off unless you were fucking up on something else?

Also, you have a light switch on your business ethics. Do things my way and I work well, don't and I flick the switch and I make sure I steal your payroll. The smart thing to do would've been to continue working well while looking for a new job and respectfully resigning. At least that way you don't burn a bridge and if you were in a pinch you could get rehired immediately.

In regards to the big downsizing of Circuit City, I'm pretty certain whoever gets fired, while I'm sure not all of them will deserve it, will be of the bottom percentile of productivity.

Unless they really do go through and do a blanket salary check and fire anyoen making over X. I went through that once at a network engineering job. They went through and either laid off or forced to resign everyone making over 70k. The only 2 people they kept was a guy who had an employee number in the single digits, who was personal friends with the CEO, so they couldn't possibly fire him, and kept a guy who'd just been promoted from tech support who was making maybe 45-50k. I was one of the people laid off. 5 weeks before my pre-IPO options vested, and while I didn't get them at a dime or anything, I got them low enough to make $5 for every $1 I would've had to spend to pick up the options. I was *NOT* a happy camper.
