Griever wrote:Man people in Virginia are freaked out right now. I've talked to some of my friends down at VT and a lot of them are really mentally shaken by what happened. My prayers go out to them and to any friends and family you guys may have down there.

By the way, if the shooter was Asian there is no way he could have a dick that long.

Ginzburgh wrote:It's the biggest school shooting in us history. Bigger than columbine...so this is going to be in the news and people are going to be shaken for a long time.

Diekan wrote:w...t....f????? shaken up by what?

yeah - i can if one of the people killed was a personal friend or family member of yours... but shaken up? give me a fucking break.

people are so fucking melodramatic it's sickening. people die each and every day from starvation, freezing to death, car accidents and through about 15 million other causes. ohhhhh but a psycho goes on a shooting spree and NOW people are "shocked" and "terrified" and "saddended!!" booofuckinghoo get over it.

stop acting like you're all upset over something you had no part of, you didn't witness first hand and over a bunch of people you've never met during your entire life.

'people are freaking out!!!" over fucking what?

Diekan I think Ginzburgh was referring to people who live in the general area. Unless this sort of thing happens all the time (it doesn't) in your back yard, it is going to be unsettling. Also the manner of death isn't like the rest of the things you mentioned in that it was directly caused by someone who's actions were carried out with that result in mind.

For those parents that have children in college they have to be thinking this could happen at their kids school. There is plenty of reason for many people to be concerned, and if you are that completely desensitized to violence and death then perhaps you need to look a little more inward in your search for who to berate for being a bit off in their reaction.

Which is exactly what I was referring too. Am I personally shaken up? No more shaken than when I read any other news story every day.

31 people dead X 31 brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers, peers...thats alot of people shaken up...thousands. I guess Diekan has beef with that.

booofuckinghoo get over it.

Nice attitude.

I understand times are changing and all of that but can someone help me with a sanity check here.

Do you think this would have happened say 20 years ago?

Is this a growing trend that students feel is acceptable to rebut some ill-will or whatever this dudes problem was?

As for Diekan, I don't think his comments are all that bad. I don't see any posts for the thousands of US troops or a better comparison, the Iraqi civilians, being posted and folks say "OMG look at all those dead iraqi civilians".

I take his point to mean, if you don't know the person that just died, it is no more of a death than that of a stranger. The value of that life lost is no greater than any other lost life, hence his "Big deal attitude". Frankly I don't disagree with him. It isn't the loss of life that hurts (to me) but how "kids" feel this is an acceptable form of "release".

This is the shit im talking about when I say that everyone should carry a god damn gun. People go out unarmed and make fuckin targets of themselves becuase they beleive it will never fucking happen to them. Just once id like to read about an attempted shooting like this stopped becuase 3 dudes pulled thier .45s and saved everyones liberal pussy ass. Ill put this in caps and maybe it will sink in..... BETTER TO HAVE IT AND NEVER NEED IT THAN TO NEED IT ONE TIME AND NOT HAVE IT

Now some dipshits in politics are going to have a knee jerk reaction and try to bring about more gun controll. Not like that will work though considering how many laws fuckin school shooters are breaking allready.

P.S Im glad I won the election but I need my avatar back becuase its part of a debt if I lose. Please fix my shit :)

That's exactly my point.

The media is going to hype the shit out of this for ratings. Don't believe me? Turn on the news now... tell me what you see. Media hounds interviewing student after student about what they "saw" and "heard" - over and over - the same stories.... damn near word for word.

I can't wait till they start interviewing some corn farmer in Iowa who has aboslutely no affiliation with the school or anyone involved.... with tears his in eyes (for the camera mind you) he'll blab on and on about how shocked, horrified and saddened he is.

All I'm saying is people need to get over it and stop putting on this act of being oh so tramautized... it's nothing more than melodramatic pandering for whatever reason... attention... pity... take your pick.

No melodrama? Are you sure? Listen to Bush's little speech... and that's just ONE example.

oh p.s. think the country would be 'shocked' and 'horrified' if this had been an all black inner-city school? lol - fuck no it wouldn't.

So you want everyone to have guns? How many more shootings would be done out of rage?
Cutt me off in traffic? BAM
Receptionist not getting you into the office quick enough? BAM

Think how many MORE shootings there would be because of people who lose their tempers daily.

Gad damn it, why do I drag myself into gun debates. Neither side will change their minds. Just a bunch of back and forth garbage.

Your argueing with emotion. Do people with clps just smoke people ? Do me the one facor and look that up . Not even gonna call names or get pissed. Just look up how many folks who carry clear leather and blast people .. PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE.

Youll find your wrong if you want to save time. Banning guns sure as fuck isnt going to work becuase CRIMINALS DONT CARE. So maybe people should learn from these horrible shootings and do something real about the problem.

And if your going to come back at me with some bs about crossfire think about this. 5 innocents killed in a shootout is a lot better than 30 +.

Yeah... so why don't you give a fuck when "innocent" people die the other 364 days of the year?

And, I love your answer to the problem...

Oh, but let me put in a language your backwoods, hillybilly, moonshine running ass can understand.

I see them dare keeds got shot! im gladz i gots me gun... hell if all dem dare peeple had a gun dey cud hav shooted dat some-bitch demselves. dey can hav me gun when dey pry it from my cold dead hands... YEEEEHAAAAWWWWW

Go burn a cross or something, will ya?

Now for those of you who can't read worth a fuck... e.g. Spazz... let me break this down like you're a five year old (which mentally you are)....

Am I glad they died? - NO.
Is it a terrible thing? - Yes.
Do I wish it didn't happen - Yes.

Will life go on? Yes.

No I won't lose sleep over it. I'll still go work out, come home, fuck Ginz's woman in the ass and leave my hot cream dripping down his mom's chin, shower, eat a sandwich, and go to bed, get up, and go back to work.... what I will not do is pretend I'm sad and heartbroken over something that happened across 4 states away to people I never knew.

You too weakling. Look up stats on how many people who carry legally just draw steal and blast a fucker. Im sick to death of people just letting themselves get blasted and pussies thinking its the guns fault. Its the criminals fault and all the gun laws int he world arent gonna keep heat out of bad peoples hands. Reality is what is not what you wish it to be.

Im not on the band wagon. Im not crying but it does sicken me to see people murdered.Im more pissed that no one defends themselves and laws make it so your not allowed to than by the actual crime. This shit happens becuase we allow it. Maybe you could tell me why all these horrific murders take place in places where your not allowed to be armed and if there is any connection at all.

Sadly, yes.

Aug. 1, 1966: Austin, Texas, Charles Joseph Whitman, a 25-year-old architectural engineering honor student at the University of Texas, climbed to the top of the university's 27-story tower and shot 44 people. The 90-minute shooting rampage was ended when Romero Martinez, an off-duty policeman, climbed the tower and shot Whitman, who died immediately. Authorities later found the bodies of the gunman's mother and his wife at their homes.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.

This isn't the wild wild west. You want STUDENTS going into a classroom with Desert Eagles strapped to their legs? This is a COLLEGE CAMPUS for Christ's sake.

You do realize that the majority of college kids are under the age of 21 don't you?

You do realize that the majority of college KIDS do not have the maturity to handle the responsibility of carrying a firearm don't you?

Do you really want a campus of 18 and 19 year olds toting around .357's?

Yes I am ok with anyone over 21 who passes the req to carry a firearm. Yes in college I think it should be ok for students who pass to carry. In highschools I think It should be a teachers choice. What might have happend in that giant school if 3 or 4 teachers/janitors were packing? How bout at the school today? Im sorry guns give you the willies but just as they can take a life they can save one. When you are allowed to carry thier are very strict rules about when you can draw fire etc. If you draw and kill over nothing youll go to jail. Like I told the others look up the sats on people who legally carry and commit murders then we can talk more.

If I remember right the day of the shooting in Columbine a women was released from jail for killing some of her fellow students back in the 70s

Ahh you're wrong. Guns don't give me the "willies." I have owned guns and I have no real issue with guns. I don't blame the gun for the crime.

What I do believe, however, is that people today are far more immature and stupid than the generations of yesteryear. With that said we DO need strick regulations and control over firearms.

Just being a citizen of this country should NOT automatically grant you the right to own a firearm designed for one purpose - to kill. And, I am making a bold statement with that as it goes completely against my more liberatarian views.

Don't include me in that. I was horrified...of course, I'm also a parent so I immediately identified with the parents of VT students.

Really?

Then care to explain how people like Zan (who doesn't even live here) know more about American history and the current situation with our government than the vast majority of the people who DO live here?

We've turned into a nation of lazy, ignorant slobs who are more concerned with the outcome of American Idol than we are with the outcome of the latest Supreme Court ruling.

Most people can't tell you the name of the country's Secretary of State let alone.... you know.... never mind.... you're one of them.... it's like talking to a brick wall.

Who knows maybe we can get Eminem to write some rap about it... maybe then the two brain cells you haven't fried with crack and meth might light up and get "it."
