I like Minrott. He's the first conservative I've talked to this election that intellectually discussed important issues, without crying the sky is falling, and with very little pessimism

Not really. I dismiss the crazy ranting of Mindia. Seriously, I don't even bother to open threads started by him with "Obama, LOL!" or "OMG! Look what I just got in chain mail!#@!" in the title. It's just aggravating and a waste of time. On the other hand, I was talking about posts. You can't deny you been outspoken in your positions ;)

Oh, I don't deny any such thing. I have made multiple posts in support of my positions. I do like to think that all, or at least most of them have actual content to them, though, in the form of a supported argument or position, or a reasoned rebuttal to someone else's argument. I always try and make supported arguments, constructed in a logical fashion when I'm debating something, both when I'm making a position and when I'm rebutting someone else's. I'm sure I don't always hit the mark, but I at least like for there to be some actual content in most of my content.....

Even Snopes has weighed in on the issue saying they have never been close. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/ayers.asp

So, if you're going to attack the guy, at least have a viable beef, K?

Hell, if you're going to go after Obama for Ayers, how about going after McCain for his ties to G. Gordon Liddy, who was convicted for all kinds of malfeasance in attempting to subvert the Constitution by his actions with Watergate and the other Nixon BS?

Good grief... are you serious? Arlos... the man sat in Wright's church for TWENTY years and claims he didn't know about his hate. He STARTED his political career from Ayers' living room and recieved money in the form of campaign donations. He got sweetheart real estate deals from Rezco. Come on. If the tables were turned and it was McCain in those situations you'd be all over it - and you know it.

You guys are just amazing... seriously... you'll bomb-blast Palin for her clothes but jump up and down screaming that Obama's misgivings are completely irrelevent. It's simply amazing.

Anyhow, my *point* (and I thought this point was pretty clear, but I guess not) - was that this quote:

was bs.

It didn't need me to point out how ridiculous it was because by the time I'd seen it 10 other people already had.

Do I really need to point out how much negative republican stuff is said on this board? How many people post against it and how few defend it?

gracious, Diek, this post wasn't about her clothes - it went there as an aside and people derailing it by acting like that was the topic at hand ><

and Mart, I give up - while this board might lean left, the people who partake in the political discussions are about even on either side. Be stubborn if you wish, but you're spinning your wheels trying to prove an off-topic point very different from your original statement. You were commenting on how stupid attacks primarily come from the left (and that's your amusement because you're so above that, ho hum!), I told you that's bullshit, and now you're moving to change what you said to say that most people on this board lean left and no one defends the poor little conservatives which has nothing to do with what I commented on in the first place.

It's totally off topic, but just to address your poor pitiful conservatives gripe - off the top of my head, recently, left leaning people who partake in these discussions - Arlos, myself, Tossica, Drem, and Clakar. Right leaning people who do - Diekan, you, Ziek, Minrott, Mindia. The rest tend to go either way depending on the topic (tikker, Ever, kramer, brin, araby), or step into political threads once in a great while (leah and zan - left, gaazy and harrison - right.) Seems pretty evenly split to me as far as political discussions go, so I'm not sure where you're going with that.

I didn't say I thought anything about you in that post....

all I said at all *about* you was that it's apparent that you're probably voting McCain. I've never, ever had a problem with you - we can have a disagreement without me thinking bad things about you, you know. but yes, you're absolutely free to think whatever you like about me, though I'm not sure what that has to do with the conversation that transpired.

Gysp, I'm gonna give you the same advice I gave Mindia a while back. Do a search of your posts (not any recent ones) and see if you still agree with what you've said and how you said it. I find doing that gives me perspective.

Republican John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin are sweeping through battleground Pennsylvania as polls show them trailing the Democratic ticket, but McCain says it's wonderful to fool the pundits and is vowing to pull an upset.
McCain told supporters in Hershey, Pa., on Tuesday that, in his own words: "I'm not afraid of the fight. I'm ready for it."
The Arizona senator continued a sharp assault on Democratic rival Barack Obama during a noisy rally in Hershey.
Palin defended their campaign's harsh attacks on Obama.
The Alaska governor says Obama is not being candid about his tax plans, and she says that it's not mean-spirited or negative to call out someone on his record.

It's not any different than what Hillary was doing during the primaries.

I agree with you on that Ashly, and I was definitely not a fan of Hillary in the primaries either.

Mart, I'm not sure which thing I said that you're looking for me to look at how I said it, or what time period you want me to look at since you told me not to look at recent ones or if you're solely talking political posts; your words are ambiguous here.

I will say this, though. While I can look back in life at anything I've said in the past, it always reflects how I felt at the time - life changes, situations change, knowledge changes, and what you thought once can change in light of new facts. that's what I know. If you're asking me to look at past posts to gain perspective and regret anything I've said, that's not likely to happen. I probably edit a post 20 times before I click submit to avoid that issue.

now, if you'd like me to look at something in particular.. get a little more specific, and I'll be happy to.

I'm okay with the tone of my posts, to be honest. When I come off snarky and bitchy, I'm well aware of it. it's usually intentional, and usually is exclusive to this section of the board (not including when Harrison was agitating the piss out of me, because then it was all over the board. he hasn't pissed me off in months though)

anyhow, in this thread, my tone toward you was deliberate and in response to the tone in your first post. I agree that what you said is a great way to gain perspective, but find it odd coming from someone who on the whole is a good and helpful person but comes off condescending and self righteous in a good chunk of her posts. case in point, your first post in this thread:

You expected him to throw his hands in the air and say he concedes?

Of course he's saying he's gonna win.

The the Palin clothes thing makes me laugh. Of all the things to worry about.

Sorry, it was the best I could come up with after a week and a half of sickness in my house to your 'the sky is falling' post.

Naturally, whoever is in the losing position is never going to say "Oh well, we've lost" before the votes are even cast. He has to keep up at least the appearance that he expects to win or he loses whatever confidence people still have in him.

As for the Palin clothes thing. It does crack me up. There is so much more to worry about with regards to her and the election in general that the focus put on it is laughable.

    Probably.

But again...there's so much else to worry/focus on, this doesn't even make my radar. Yes, it shows that he (like Palin) are horrible with OPM (other people's money) but we knew this already.

Neither one of the candidates has a clue about finances or the economy.
