Well, they did ship down Shania Twain... not that her music is worth anything - but she is HOT.

She lives in Sweden and New Zealand. You can hardly claim ownership.

Marksmenship is the trade of a rifleman. Concealment is the trade of a sniper. (Again if he's real) Don't scoff at the fact he's making 200 meter shots. Because if he's getting within 200 meters of US personnel, making hits and dissapearing, he's doing a damn good job. The role he's playing isn't to impress internet persona's with his ability to make kills at ranges of a mile. It's to disrupt and kill his enemy.

Also, your marine snipers have benchmade Remington 700's, hand loaded cartridges, and are teamed with spotters to estimate range and windage for them. This guy's all by his lonesome, with probably a sheet metal Romak 3 or a secondhand SVD, and doing an effective job. He's doing what he can with what he's got, and succeeding. Again, it's probably a bullshit story, and I don't want to see our soldiers getting shot up by some turban monkey, but I can still respect what he's doing.

First, it's not one person.

Also, getting within 200 meters of a RANDOM US person is fairly easy in a hostile urban area, with plenty of troops.

Disappearing is also easy, when we try and do the right thing and not be spartan in regards to this.

If you want to see Juba the sniper #1000 in action, go watch the insurgent sniper who missed the medic, got shot and then the US team saved him from dying. That's the reality there.

Remember to not buy into the Guardian fantasy writing, and stick to somewhat reputable US news sources. If it shows up in The Guardian and is about the US Military, but isn't anywhere else in the News, you know its complete bullshit.

Let me break it down for you crayon style. If he's real. If he's one man. I dont' believe for a second anything the Guardian publishes. All I'm saying is that the persona the article portrays is one I would have great respect for. Why is it always necessary for you to argue points that are not even up for debate?

I'll simplify for you. This is not at all accurate and a very ignorant statement.

As I said, its very SIMPLE to get close to a random US troop deployed in an URBAN area.

Snipers are about more than the simplicity you are stating.

Based on your track record for being wrong on facts, if you said the sky was blue, I'd look out the blessed window, Lyion.

I don't seem to be the one posting Guardian articles and wondering why they aren't in the mainstream news, or are validated.

Then again, I don't get my news from state sponsored TV, comrade, and I don't live in a vacuum.

The only 'state-sponsored' sources in the Guardian article are named members of the US Military. If this article is untrue, I would think it would be simple to do so.

As it happens, I posted it because I *hadn't* seen it referenced by US media sources. If it had been all over the news, it wouldn't have been interesting. I'm curious if any US reporter has checked up on it. Outside the freerepublic.com and a few other right-wing sites by-and-large, I don't see a lot of comment on this.

So I repeat, has anyone seen a followup on this?

[Note: the awkward grammar is my fault for not realizing sections would be deleted unmarked, please figure out what I probably posted, thanks for the editing help, O Moderator!]

Amazingly, Juba hasn't shown up anywere else in the news. I talked to my buddy who is a Sniper in Iraq on Friday who is in the marine reserves and on his second tour there in Baghdad and he has never heard of Juba. Unlike The Guardian, I have actually talked to a US sniper, not taken out of context.

The Guardian is rabidly anti US, and very very much Anti GOP. They also are notoriosuly poor at presenting unbiased news. Since everyone in the US assumes the Guardian is bullshit I doubt even CNN or MSNBC will give it the time of day.

Feel free to show me any verifiable news organization that would print an article referencing one person discussing a good shot by a single insurgent and make it into an article stating how bad the US Morale is because of the powers of the insurgency and a fantasy writing story with no backing.

Ralf, I'd love to hear your opinion on this, and any other US people with connections in the military. Something tells me the people talking with US servicemen might know a little better than a Canadian sourcing a Guardian story.

You've posted this exact same thing word for word at least 3 times on NT already.

I have discussed it via emails with a few of my buddies. None have heard thru their sources of Juba the Sniper. My pal that was a marine (honorably discharged and in inactive reserves) says his friends deployed over there 6 months ago. All of them are in combat sectors, none have heard of this guy, and sniper attacks are extremely rare. He also says for the most part morale is extremely high. He said "youll be suprised what a blessing email and computer home videos from home do to troops moarle. They know what they are fighting for."

Min, and Rust, Im not saying he is not out there. But for alot of Marines and Army personel to not hear of him means the story is fabricated or complete and utter bulshit. Being a trained Marksmen for my ship in the Navy I can effectively tell you that 200 meters is childs play. If this guy was using a Mannlicher-Carcano I would be impressed. But I we were trained to take out a person at 200meters BEFORE he reached the ship. I was using a M21.

Most likely the weapon this guy is using is a CZ527 Czech sniper rifle chambered with a 5.56, which at 200 meters would be extremely accurate. Or possibly a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 Sniper using a 7.62. Only other is a possible SV98. all of these weapons are readily available to them Czech Republic and russian arms. Frankly I doubt Juba even in exsists but if he does that range in meager at best. Pedestrian.

To stay concealed and snipe from a building is easy for 'sneaking away without a trace' whack one person and dont fire a second shot. Now the troops have to go door to door and do a search, all of such places can conceal and hide a weapon such as those. Most of which can be easily broken down and stored in anything about the size of a brief case. So the hype and spin on this guy is laughable if he does exsist, which at this time in unsubstantiated.

Your friend might want to explain it to your government, they still seem a little shaky on the subject.
