In the national elections I have voted in, I have always voted Dem, that's because Bush never appealed to me and McCain certainly does not. However I have voted Republican for state level offices and been roundly castigated for it. There is definitely a mentality among black people to vote Dem regardless, in my opinion and from my experience anyway. Thus the fact that Obama is black has little bearing on their votes because the overwhelming odds are that they would have voted for any Democratic nominee.
Given our country is pretty much evenly split between conservative and liberal in most demographics and genre breakdowns, that number is disturbing.
Toss, I'm sure a few whites won't vote for him because he's black, but if it was nearly a problem he wouldn't be polling with a 10 point lead, and he certainly wouldn't win the election.
