In that case I would gladly kill myself, and I would also have done the country a service.

Not that this is unusual, I would be far far more surprised if he understood something I, or actually ANYONE said, that happened to differ 1 iota from his world view. Hell, he hasn't admitted he was wrong about his blazing idiocy about the comet impact, despite me, vonkaar, and, you know, newtonian physics showing that he was, indeed, a flaming retard.
Oh, and guess what, Mindia, I can burn a flag right here in the US of A without having a single charge filed against me, as long as it's my flag, and not one I stole from someone else, and the burning of said flag isn't liable to set anything else on fire. Funny, that doesn't seem to me I would be "catching hell for doing it", except from narrow-minded bigoted zealots like you, who would threaten me with bodily harm, who I would then cheerfully turn into the police and sue for everything they owned.
Once again, since I know you won't understand it: Free speech doesn't mean that people can say whatever they want, as long as you agree with it. Free speech means people can say whatever they want, even if you find it absolutely distasteful, disgusting, and utterly reprehensible. Don't like it? Move to somewhere that doesn't have freedom of speech as one of the fundamental tenets of government.

While the case could test a state statute against flag burning — an act the U.S. Supreme Court says is protected under the First Amendment — prosecutors said Andrew Elisha Staley has yet to argue that he was exercising free speech rights.
"Bottom line is, the kid got drunk," said Lisa Lee, his mother. "He's never been in trouble before."
Staley, 18, is accused of taking the flag from a residence and setting it on fire. His father said the teenager "has no reason for anger against the United States" and could easily have ignited a garbage can instead of a flag.
"He was brought up in church, and he knows right from wrong," Doc Staley said.
Doc Staley said his son has been "floundering around" since dropping out of high school. "This is where the drinking came in. And he's not very good at it," the father said.
The teenager was released from jail Thursday on his own recognizance while he awaits his Aug. 2 trial on charges of desecrating a venerated object, underage drinking, littering, evading arrest, burning personal property and theft.
The Tennessee flag-burning statute makes the crime a misdemeanor, punishable by less than a year in jail and up to $2,500 fine.
I hope they spank this idiot HARD.

Gidan wrote:Its very amusing that people are willing to goto jail for attacking somone for burning a flag, and on top of that saying they are doing it for America. I guess it just never really got through to them that our freedom to do things like burning the flag is what makes this country great. You have the freedom to speak out against your govnment without fearing for your life or the chance of spending the rest of your life in prison.
People like you really dont know what it is to be americans and to be free, you want everyone to live in a country where its illegal to do anything that is against your own views, if you dont like the way things are here then leave. No one is forcing you to stay here.
