You just proved my point Yamori, yet you don't even see it. THE SOUTH wanted this and the SOUTH wanted that... blah blah blah. The SOUTH was not equal to what the country as a whole wanted. Copout? LOL, no. Your boat just sunk to the bottom of Davy Jones' locker.

I could argue that most people in the north didn't give a shit about what happened to the black man, and that it was a small minority (and a few politicians when new states were created) making an uproar about slavery until the very END of the civil war where they made freeing the slaves an issue to boost morale. But whatever.

Ok, how about this.

During REVOLUTIONARY times, the majority was for slavery and the refusal of political rights to women and blacks.

You , Arlos, Gidan, Rust, and the rest of your ilk all subscribe to the same puerile points of view, thus giving yourselves a strong support network... /snooze So, lauding yourselves as victorious in any thread is completely laughable.

Haha, my "ilk." Good one. I disagree with them on plenty of issues. I'm sure we disagree like hell ass when it comes to economics.

I doubt I'm in any "ilk" on this board.

Nice backpedal attempt, but... no. You align yourself more with left-leaning philosphies than right. You cannot win this argument.

Of course the war protestors were against it. The type of idiots who waved the "No War for Oil" signs last year are the same type of idiots we saw in the late 60's to early 70's waving the "Baby Killers" signs at the US GI's returning home from Vietnam.

I'm just about as liberal as the founding fathers were... I'm a constitutionalist who is conservative on economics and liberal on some social issues (excluding gun control, and affirmative action or hatecrimes).

If I had to pick, I lean more right than left.

I was not yet born at the time, but my understanding of it from talking with friends and relatives that were was that the people "baby killer" signs were the extremist minority. Many people did not support the war, and didn't like the fact that we were involved, but they didn't blame our troops. I don't think you can group every Vietnam war protester in the Jane Fonda camp.

I wasn't lumping them all in with the Jane Fonda crowd, but just take a look at the mindset of protestors... that kind of just speaks for itself.

Does that go for all protesters? I have seen far more religious protesters then anything else. Most of the Christian or Catholic.

No this thread is now about the fact that this thread is no longer about Terry Shiavo. :eyecrazy:

I remember every single morning passing a group of chrisitan protesters at every single planned parenthood in the area of NY I lived. They stood out there from 7am to 7pm 7 days a week. Always screaming and yelling, taking pictures of the girls going in every girl regadless of why she was there and telling them they are going to post the pictures all over the internet as the murderes they were.

The ones at the Planned Parenthood closest to me would een come as a group on Sunday morning. THey would goto church at 6am, then straight from church in 1 big van they would go straight to the Planned Parenthood.

My graduation was protested by christians because the speaker was pro choice and didn't hate gays.

My GF graduation at the time was protested by christians.

I can go on and on, 99% of the protesters I have seen were religious almost all chrisitan.
