But this article today takes the cake.
Headline: Boat carrying Myanmar aid sinks.
So they finally, finally allow someone to provide them aid, and the boat sinks. I clicked on the article to read it thinking maybe something unforeseen happened in the ocean, and they were lost at sea or something. But no...
The boat was making the 12-hour journey from Yangon to Mawlamyinegyun when it hit a submerged tree trunk and began taking water near Bogalay town, which was extensively damaged by the cyclone, the IFRC said.
So they are in shallow enough water that they hit a submerged tree trunk HARD enough that it was able to fuck up their boat enough to sink, and they weren't able to save many of the supplies.
The whole thing smacks of the Katrina disaster where it was just one fuck up after another that lead to greater complications than anyone anticipated. I feel so badly for those poor people and hope that their government starts allowing aid to come in.
The whole thing is unbelievable.
