Working for an auto-company, I can tell you, things are pretty shitty around these parts. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing some grown men cry
as they go through the office after getting a pink slip. No not everyone gets that options but HR seems to have a heart (if you can call it that) when someone has put in 15 years and gets canned 45 days before x-mas
That was a good blurb on NPR and the local news the other day though, I think a lot of folks may think the UAW is a good reason why the auto's are where they are, however I think if you really look into it, a lot of it is because of exec's (I don't me the ones with O in their title either), get free cars, free gas, free insurance, etc. Lots and lots of "free" for them and $$$ for the company. That should be the first type shit to go before one UAW worker loses their job, and yet, still today, if you're grade e (not clear on the scales) you get all this free spiffy shit on the back of the company.
