Copyrighting and Protecting Web Content... help

Hello Ralf here!

I have recently begun a major expansion to my growing online empire. I am tying my products into various shopping networks and have my 2nd ecommerce website under construction. I am in the computer hardware business.

One thing that sets my business apart from much of the competition is that we do all our own photography and it is of very high quality. We also have marketing that in my opinion is unmatched compared to most of the other small businesses that are our competition.

Currently I digitally watermark all our photos and that is about it for protecting the content we use to sell our products. Recently I have found quite a few people stealing bits and pieces of our marketing and blatently comparing the verbiage we use to describe our products.

So here goes the questions:

1. Can I stick a copyright on all our listings/add/websites and it be legally binding just by doing so? Do I have to apply for an actual copyright on our web content and is that difficult to do?

2. Is there some sort of javascript or something I can add to our webpages that disables the ability of right-clicking on the website and viewing the source HTML?

3. Is there any good way to stop people from being able to highlight HTML text with the left-click of the mouse so they can't copy it into their own advertisements?

4. If I do disable the ability to right-click or highlight can you see any negative impact right off the bat?

5. Lastly if I catch some muther fucker stealing our infoz how can I go about pushing his/her shit in for doing it?

I want to be the next Donald Trump Internet Super Genius or "DTISG" for short and I can't do that if people are taking my hard work and fucking it up so they can make 2 dollars on an eBay auction.

disabling right-clicking is easy enough... lots of people do that

go to the rumors section on hoopshype.com, they have a text-highlighting disabler... works great.

watermarks are a great solution for image protection

I am not a lawyer and cant really help you there.

No there is no way for a webpage to disable the browsers ability to see the source.

You can disable right clicking, but everything you can do through right clickign you can do without it. Stopping highlighting text really doesn't help you either as it would just make copying stuff less convenient.

Again, I am not a lawyer, not sure what your legal recorse could be on this.

Great responses guys thanks a bunch...

One last question came to mind...

Most of the websites outside of our own have some sort of tool used to create a listing or advertisement of an item. The problem is that these tools are all different and require you to do the same add over and over for each site you sell on.

I have set up a second website just for hosting the description information and pictures that makes up 80 percent of the advertisement.

That being said all of these sites description tools are HTML based. Is there a way to insert an HTML redirect of some sort that when the listing loads it fills the description with text and pictures from your own website?

for example : redirect a description to http://www.ralfs-website/laptop10.htm ?

Thanks again. As for the real estate question I dabble right now. Goosse has a full on real estate biz but I am focusing on my IT company for now.
