I think she is just about to make a huge decision, and she wants someone else's opinion. I told her not to gamble with the money, and put it in a relatively safe investment like CD's.

She could live off that indefinately with no other income at a 4-5% yield if she reinvested approximately half of the earnings each year. That's a 1,000,000 a year accrual. She could easily reinvest half of that and live on 500,000 a year.
