Buying land in Cuba

Postby Tikker » Tue Aug 15, 2006 8:36 am

This was brought up in a different forum, and it kind of made me giggle

the gist of the thread was that some dude was frustrated that as an american it was difficult for him to buy land in cuba (i assumed he was speculating that when castro dies, communism will go with him)

it then quickly deteriorated from there

I know I'd be tempted to invest in some land there down the road

A lot of retired people put all their retirement money into houses in Ensanada, Mexico a few years ago, and the Mexican government came in and said, "This is our land and you have 30 days to move out."

If you know where to look in mexico you can make a damn killing though. A place called puerto escondido in Guerrero is becoming a big tourist attraction very quickly. The surfing X-games where going on when I got there. We saw a house that was only $450,000....(it was incredibly huge. Anyway it was only 450,000 and the prices for that house and all the other lots had increased 300% in 4 years.
