After living across America, there is one universal truth.

Baby boomers are much, much ruder than our generation or the current kidlings.

We're doomed when they all retire and suck up what's left of our countries benefits programs.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.

I work for one but I just thought she was a bitch as in a character flaw. Too bad she had no control of it all along.

They're entitled cuz they...uh...lived so long!

Or, maybe because while our generation has done nothing but sit on its oversized ass bitching because the remote control batteries died, their generation actually DID things... like... ohh I don't know... civil rights, women's rights, veitnam...

There's is a generation that actually STOOD and FOUGHT for something.

Our's is a generation that has done nothing but master the art of piss poor parenting, become the fattest society on the planet, and has earned the title of the dumbest of all the industrial / modernized countries.

Or, perhaps their bitterness isn't based on some self-serving sense of entitlement. Maybe they've looked around and realized what a bunch of wasted fucks we are, and that everything they stood for has been replaced with Xbox and Puff Daddy.

Bottom line is:

Our Generation = shitty parents, fat, stupid and lazy.
Their Generation = fought for civil rights, fought for women's rights, stood for or against Veitnam, and everything else I haven't listed.

They wake up and realize what a waste of air our generation has become and say "fucking idiots... they don't deserve our respect." and... they're right.

The US is one of the only countries that treats its elders like shit.

we're bitching about remote batteries but THEY'RE the ones that made the remote control!! That's right. Sure, minorities got together and stood up for themselves and demanded something-when there was nothing. It's not like they all got together and said, "hey we're going to be old one day so we better start demanding things so we'll go down in history as the ones who fought for something!" Uhh...no...they were strong individuals and en masse they made a difference.

And Vietnam? No, thanks I'd rather have 50,000 fathers, sons and brothers alive.

If this generation consists of piss-poor parenting then it came directly from piss-poor parents. And while I think there is a lot of piss-poor parenting going on...I guarantee you there are just as many good parents. I am willing to bet many posters on this board could out-parent their own parents today thanks to our changed ways of thinking.

We might be fat, but I remember as a kid eating homemade biscuits with Hershey's chocolate syrup. I didn't make it myself, it was given to me. If I continued to eat like that my entire life, who would I blame for my fas ass? me, or my folks? At what point do people take responsibility for their own actions?

Also, our education system is not what I made it, or my parents even. It's what we're given. It's controlled by someone else, not me or my family. When my family tried to take control and give me a great education, it ended up costing way too much money. I had to sacrifice a good (good meaning one you pay for) education for dinner at night. They set us up for this, don't give me shit for an education and ask me why I'm so stupid.

Perhaps. But in this society, it sucks to get old, noone appreciates the older generation, and noone respects anyone next door anymore, either. So while I can joke around about older folks being bitchy, at the same time I can see why. But I don't think it's any of the reasons you listed.

Bottom line is:

Our Generation = shitty parents, fat, stupid and lazy.
Their Generation = fought for civil rights, fought for women's rights, stood for or against Veitnam, and everything else I haven't listed.

Society is what we've made it. Look around you-there is a McDonald's on every corner. I didn't put them there. I'm not saying my grandad did either...but this is life. Things change and people have to be willing to accept that at any age. I'm not saying people aren't a disgrace in this country. Sure they are, but they were there when the boomers were young also. In fact, many of them were pot-smoking peace-loving hippies themselves. So what if our generation came out with excellent video gaming. I think that's pretty fucking fantastic.

This is the only thing you said that I really agree with.

I have a fair degree of anger towards the boomers in general, actually. Mostly because of how close they came and how deeply they failed.

By the end of the 60s, they stood a very real chance of honestly changing the world. Civil Rights, protest against the war, environmentalism, a spiritual awakening, etc. etc. etc. They were being heard, and changes were HAPPENING....

So what'd they do? They gave it all away for cheap sex and coke in the 70s, and turned to greed and shallow materialism by the 80s.

Every single area of life they touched got ruined by the time they were done with it and passed it on to me and the rest of the Generation X'ers. Sex? We've gone from free love to fearing death if you do it with the wrong person. Environment? Way worse now than in the 60s in many ways. Social equality? The buying power of the salary of the typical college grad right now is lower than it's been since 1973. I could go on and on, but what's the point?

They changed, dramatically, from a force of positive change to the biggest "GIMME MINE" self-centered pack of asshats ever. The rest of us will be cleaning up their shit for decades after they're gone, and that's not even counting Social Security.

An excellent book on the generational changeover from Boomer to GenX is called "The 13th Gen". It's a little bit dated in some ways now, as it came out in the early 90s, but a lot of it's analyses are absolutely spot on.
