She's been to the doctor, but they weren't very helpful. They tested her for strep and mono, and it's neither. Her symptoms are cold-like, runny nose, cough, etc. She has headaches. She has a low white cell count. Also, she has asthma, if that could be a contributing factor.
She hasn't been throwing up or anything, at least not yet.
Any ideas/suggestions on what it could be and if it's something to worry about?
8 days is insane. Are her joints red in the creases (where it bends) ?
With a fever like that I'd alternate motrin and tylenol. Since they are different drugs you can give her tylenol and then 2-3 hours later give her motrin and alternate like that. I wouldn't keep up a rotation like that for more than a day, though. Push liquids....lots and lots of loquids. Dehydration is NOT something she needs on top of a fever like that.
Honestly, I'd either be bugging the doc or finding another one. 8 days is too long.
