The Great FireWall of China!

Postby Trielelvan » Wed Apr 25, 2007 4:07 am

I thought this was kind of amusing.
China blocks a lot of stuff internet-wise.
Now, you TOO can see whether or not your favorite places on teh intrawebz are blocked!

The internetz sucked when I lived there. For a while NT was blocked, and then mysteriously it worked one day.

Crap, even my own website is blocked.

Next week I'm heading to Beijing for a month for work, and I may end up getting transferred there is everything works out. How easy is it to get around the firewall?

Parv, your employer will PROBABLY have a way of VPNing into your corporate network remotely, which, depending on how the VPN is set up, can mean that as far as the net is concerned, you're not in china, you're sitting in your cube at your corporate office. So, if that's the case, circumventing the firewall becomes a non-issue.

Other than that, I'm not sure, you'll have to do some research on it.

Well, my hotel's internet isn't blocked ^_^ And yeah, I do have VPN through work, but it comes with its own firewall and blocking.
