when you get a passport, do you have to pay with cash/check or can you use a credit card?

I don't think checks are accepted but I could be wrong. I would bring cash, they don't cost all that much. I got mine for under 50.00. That was a photo at a local kinkos (fedex now) and shipped it off to Chicago.

EDIT
Now that I think about it, I used an Amex and paid cash at Kinkos (sorry)

if all goes as planned, josh and i are going to go to italy for a week in march :D i'm pretty excited about it. my only other trip overseas was the summer following my first year of college, and i was with my mom and grandpa, so it'll be awesome to travel with someone my own age.

Are you flying into Milan or another airport? I've been to Italy 5 times or so. I go there for business and don't get to tour around much Italy has a ton of great places to go and all sorts of great sites.

I don't see how you couldn't love the trip :)

The armed gaurds in the milan airport threw me for a loop, just wasn't used to seeing guys with machine guns in military uniforms LOL.

i think we'll be flying into rome, but i'm not sure. i'm pretty excited about the whole thing, though--as soon as we get our passports filed and everything (i really only need to renew mine [the picture is really out-of-date cuz i was a fatty back then lol]), i'm going to buy the tickets asap to get a good deal . . . which is even AWESOMER b/c my mom has a shit ton of frequent flier miles racked up, so one of our tickets will be pretty much free and the other we can split paying for between the two of us, so we'll probably only be paying about $450 each for airfare :D plus, the friend of josh's that we'll be traveling with has family in italy, so at least for a couple of nights, food and lodging will be free. :D :D :D

/bump

flights are booked :D it's $890 total, which is awesome, and we get to fly out of and into omaha, which is even more awesome (rather than driving to and from kansas city).

i decided not to bother with updating my passport . . . but we still need to do josh's. i have his birth certificate now so all we need to do is fill out the app this weekend and get some pix taken and then go to the office on monday. yaaay! this is really gonna happen!!

/bump again :D

we filed josh's passport application last week and the guy said it should be in by the end of december, and that i definitely don't need to update mine, so that's all a load off our minds.

so this trip is ON!! i'm really excited :D

don't even know what i'm going to do there but i have like 4 months to figure it out i guess lol

if you lose your passport you also have to pay.... just with various and sundry strip searches and body cavity checks....

they are more invasive and humiliating the lower the countries GDP to which you happen to be in.
