From personal experience, I can tell you that since moving I became a totally different person. I think the only person on here who knows me well enough to attest to that is Gyps. There were some serious changes I needed to make in my life and like yourself I felt stuck in a rut with friends who couldn't even spell "future".

One thing that I learned after making all of my necessary life changes is that moving had nothing to do with it. For you it might, but my point is that you shouldn't expect that moving will be your magical answer but be open to the possibility that it might help. The majority of what you need to make your changes is simply effort and proper decision making.

Moving helped me. Night and day.

Eh, if down the line she can admit what she did and apologize. I'd forgive her.

As far as the rut goes, I really did think I was out of it. May 22nd was quite possibly the worst day of my life. EVERYTHING went to shit from that day forth.

I still might get the waivers, but getting three just isn't looking too good from my standpoint.

So if the army won't let you in, why DON'T you apply to the Marines, Navy or the Air Force?

Hell, try the Coast Guard and be a rescue swimmer, if you want a job with the military that's all about saving lives....

did you even get what i was saying? the part about women at the bar was the least important. i only said that because i have no idea how a person that doesn't go to school or work has any real chances of meeting interesting, driven women

It just sounded like you were insulting me. Sorry. I still see it as an insult from where I am standing.

Basically, what I think he's trying to say is that being that this was your first (?) fairly successful relationship (ie, one that made you really happy until something blew up) you're in tunnel vision mode and don't realize that there are a gazillion other girls out there just like her, and a million that are leaps and bounds better and the only way you're going to understand that is to go out and meet new people. Frankly, you say you don't need bar skanks but just because you didn't meet her in a bar doesn't make her any less of a skank - what she did (twice, for that matter) is skanky, plain and simple. She's your comfort zone, so you're saying you'd forgive her.. but in reality, she's not even worth bothering with - girls like her are a dime a dozen.

Jay speaks the truth too - he's a 180 from the Jay I used to know, not that that's a bad thing; although, I'll disagree that moving had nothing to do with it. I don't think moving is a magical fix by any means - you can't run from your problems. What I think moving does is gives you a fresh perspective that allows you to see some of the stuff that needs to be changed. What's that saying - insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? Something like that - there's a lot of truth to it.

I look at your situation two ways - you can either make a change and get that fresh perspective to improve yourself, becoming a success story like Jay who has grown in ways I can't even begin to explain.. or, you can be more like Morphiious, who 10 years later still uses excuse after excuse to never improve upon his life, or takes a step in the right direction then never brings it to fruition and just stays a lying fat slob of an internet superstar with absolutely no success to speak of elsewhere.

Choice is yours, but you deserve better than the latter. Everyone does.

me too - & I don't even know who she was talking about, really.

the rest of what she said also seemed like it was pretty solid. There have actually been a lot of people who gave some thoughtful advice - which surprised me. this is NT, after all

you deserve better than what you got from this broad. you really should kick her out of your head....hanging onto thoughts about someone who would do you this way is an excersize in wasted energy, and there are a few million girls out there who will treat you better.

I think that just about everyone experiences something like this at one time or another. It always sucks. But it didn't kill you, so, really the only thing left to do is to learn the lesson & move on to the next thing.
edit: that last may sound harsher than I intend it to - but it really is the only option. Can't change what happened, and you can't make someone else treat you the way they should, or the way you'd wish they would. So....fuck 'em. You can move on to other relationships with other people who aren't going to be looking to harm you.
