short version: i found out boy has been fucking my (now ex-)best friend for who knows how long -- but suffice to say it was *during* our efforts to save the marriage.

I'm so sorry you have to go through that shitstorm. Jesus christ. Divorce is bad enough. Betrayal on top of that is a bitch.

Seems like you have the right idea going forward though and when you're able to bring all the issues to light you're gonna feel a huge sense of relief and begin healing. Just hang in there and lean on the people closest to you.

<3 thank you Jay. i will say, one positive side effect has been sucking the poisonous ex-bf out of the wound that is my life and healing it with the generous, compassionate, beautiful souls who are my closest friends. they rushed in to encircle me and haven't let me fall, even when i feel close to the edge.

Leah, I can't say I know how you feel per-say but I sure has fuck have some really good ideas the emotions you're going through. Trust in men, opening your heart for more hurt, being yourself and unguarded will be a long time coming. One thing I regret in my working through the issues was not working harder to retain some of the friends I could have. Family is great and all but sometimes the level of honesty needed, only a friend can play that part for you. It is great to hear you have that (I wish I would have :P)

you know, i agree with you on the trust issues. but it just isn't true to who i am to not let myself be open to possibilities and seeing what life could bring me next. my goal throughout this whole disentangling process has been to maintain the things that make me who i am: openness, honesty, realness, empathy, my ability to relate to others and let down my walls. the truth is, i feel more like myself now than i have in years, and i'm better able to see the value i bring to the table. but, i'm definitely not immune to thinking i'll be alone forever, or to questioning everyone's motives, or to putting up my defenses.
