Araby, just make sure you are present when the executor of the estate reads the will (unless that's already occurred, in which case... nm).

you guys are ossum.

I am going to talk to scott's dad today (he's an attorney) and see if I can get all of these ideas combined with his legal knowledge and go from there. so far, most people agree that she should buy my portion of the estate (even if it's just the car-though I only have their word on that unless I go and have the will read to me in person) and then we'll see how that goes.

it does bum me out that my parents are not willing to help me more, but it's something I'm also very used to by now. It really doesn't surprise me at all that she would not agree to let me drive her car...but when you take into consideration that she's getting a free one to drive unless I sign something, I do think it's too much to ask. thanks to everyone so much for the advice =)

I'll let you know what happens.

ugh, I never saw that douchebaggery-what's with the random posts?

I spoke to my mother and she revealed to me that she all along wanted to surprise me with a car. in all my ungratefulness and shame I signed the paper.

she also told me that my father was pressuring her to let him drive it. he has two cars as it is. he is not mentioned in the will.

I told her that I wouldn't sign my 1/4 away so that my father could drive a third car, while I have none. she assured me that was never her plan at all and that my father could blow it out his ass.

my mother will do the right thing. I'm glad I did. however, my mom had to understand that I wasn't just going to sign it because she was telling me to. I feel good about my decision, it was her father's car. My grandad owned a new car every year of his life. He withheld affection from my mother. I think there is something ironic about my mom driving around in his car that will give her some peace of mind. I thought it was kind of funny, myself.

I did what I did to make her happy. and that made me happy.

22/1

my parents signed a waiver once when my grandfather died because my aunt wanted something that was part of the estate. turns out she also got the $700,000 in cash that was locked up in his safe deposit box as well. After 3 years in court, they got their share of the estate. I wouldnt have signed it. This was in no way over just a buick. If your grandfather could afford to buy a new on every year, there was a whole lot more there.

well scatillac, if she does something like that-then there wasn't anything I could do to change that about her whether or not I signed the paper. In fact, if there is more of an estate than they are leading me to believe, I feel sorry that my parents could ever be the kind of people to do that to their own daughter. I feel great knowing I ended up very different than that, and would not want the money from them at all in that case. they can have it if they want it that badly. the man is dead, I don't I really care. money can't buy the peace of mind I have knowing I did the right thing.

if my mom doesn't do the right thing she has to live with that.

thanks, kahar.

actually araby. no direspect but you do not her.

If she screws you over let us know. 2 big packs of toilet paper, a huge box of detergent and some weedkiller and you can show her how hurt you are. By rolling her house foaming her yard and writing the word bitch in weedkiller in her front yard.

I really like this idea, however when and if I plan to deface someone's property, I am especially fond of the idea of buying a bunch of disposable razors, and standing them upright throughout the yard.

hell yes. Ill even let you borrow my TP gun. Me and a friend designed it because we wanted to roll the Churh of the Now sign in Conyers georgia.

This church is identical to the fosterites in Strannger in a Strange land. Arcade room on the premises, one arm bandits, you name it. My pal dubbed it Six Flags over Jesus.

I'm glad you made your stance like you did. It's not about the money, but the stance that says you are smart enough to look out for yourself, not only in this situation but in the ones coming as well. It's not accusing anyone of wrong doing, but more or less making sure that they don't get into a position that you would ever have to have a rift in your relationship over something as trivial as money.
