I agree with you that a lot of it was typical teenager stuff, but overall it's typical human stuff. It's the general nature of people (as a whole, not specific obviously) to feel sorry for themselves and want to outdo someone somehow; that's at any age, and that's why you see such ridiculous bickering at funerals regarding what they leave behind.. someone always wants more and feels slighted. As far as her family, that's a pretty sad story actually. her parents were a joke - Ashley was born with her intestines on the wrong side of her body because her mom was a crack whore, literally. I mean she still hung around sometimes, I knew her.. she didn't just like leave Ashley on the doorstep, but when she was around she did more harm than good.
Her grampa was wonderful though, he's who raised her and helped raise me - he was as pissed as I was at all the poor pitiful me's coming out of nowhere.. Grampa was super tight with all her friends, he was one of those guardians who made sure to take an active role in every aspect of her life that he could, so he knew they were all full of shit and told them as much after the funeral. made me laugh~
