Just got back from my 2nd interview. They extended an offer of employment, contigent on passing the drug screen, physical, and drive test. There's a $1000/wk. minimum guarantee, with most drivers making between $1200-$1400/wk. It comes with a hefty price though... you work 12-14 hour shifts on GRAVEYARD. :ugh: :-x :(

I asked the manager about opportunity for advancement into management... he said they do promote their drivers into management, and that I would have a strong chance to become a manager because of my management degree. He asked where I got my degree. I told him, "Charter Oak State College in Connecticut." He said, "Oh, that's a very good school. One of the other managers got his degree there too." HAHAHA So, to all you mofos who were dissing my school... EAT CROW. :hiphop:

Yes, it's a very good school, almost on par with the traditional ivy league institutions. That's why you see many Harvard and Yale alummi driving trucks on graveyard shifts.

If you worked in Colorado, my brothers friend would be your boss. He's the big wig of the transportation department there. Or something. HE had me a job their in the new account department making $17 an hour to start, but it was 2 hours one way every day.

there's a big difference between being a low level management time card approval dude at a trucking company, and being in management

He's trying to be condescending, and he's wrong on top of that. It's annoying. Sometimes he posts rationally and is contributing... other times he just trolls to get a reaction.

it has more to do with the fact that you keep posting with an elitist attitude about your mail order diploma and a very selective trucking job

get it thru your skull

charter oak is not prestigious
the education you may receive from that institution is probably very acceptable, but it's not prestigious (esteemed: having an illustrious reputation)
no kid finishes high school and says, "I think I'll go to Charter Oak for university. Yale, Harvard, Brown, etc etc will be my fall back plan"

if you'd come out and said "I earned a quality education from xxxxx" that'd be one thing, but to continually try and ram it down people's throats that some school that no one has ever heard of (kind of a big part of being prestigious) is the creme de la creme of high muckety muck education.....well, you're just opening yourself up to ridicule/scorn

Hey, I never said Charter Oak has the same reputation as Harvard or Yale. I did say, however, that Charter Oak is under the same accrediting and governing body as Harvard and Yale, and that speaks highly of an educational institution. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges doesn't just accept any Joe Shmoe who wants to start up a college. There are rigorous education and quality standards the school must meet. That isn't easy to do. Charter Oak has been around for some 33 years, and is highly successful. Why do you think I chose them? I want you to think about that for a minute. I also looked at the books for the classes at Charter Oak and compared them to other universities, and guess what... THEY ARE THE SAME BOOKS.

The professors are mostly PhD's, and a lot of MBA's too. The professors at Charter Oak are leaders in their industry, high-level executive managers, etc. and they bring a lot of knowledge to the table... just like at other universities. Charter Oak was designed for the working professional in mind... people who don't have time to commute to a brick-and-mortar campus after working all day. Yes, Charter Oak is a prestigious college when you look at their curriculum, accreditation, and quality of their professors.

You're either being a complete ignorant twit about the whole thing and don't know one thing about higher-education institutions, or you're just trying to be a jerk. I'll let you decide which category you fall under. But until then, STFU about it. Thanks.
