i really, really want to buy that accord i posted . . . but i better not :( my car is still goin', and i'm looking to buy a house next summer, so i'd prefer to not have a giant car payment for a new car weighing me down when i'm dealing with house expenses.

p.s. omg buying a house next summer!! :D

I'd rather have a house than a car, just me. I never got all that into cars, outside of the few classics I had growing up. And really that might be the only type of car I would buy again unless I had a bad commute. If that were teh case I would buy a hybrid

I am moving to portland and will probably get rid of my car because of the complete lack of need for it there. I only drive to work 1 maybe two times a week currently. I work bout 10 miles away, usually ride in and shower at the gym next store. - Sadly most days i can make it on my bike in the same amount of time since there is all the traffic im in otw to work.

After moving back to the bay area I realized I hate having to drive everywhere, and cars are just a pain in the ass.

Anything Japanese and you're set. I'd stay away from American cars if at all possible.

If I lived in a city with public transit Id be all over that shit. Here, theres like 2 taxis and a bus that goes through 'town' once every few hours. I have to have a vehicle, unless i could duct tape a 2000 pound motor to my back and bike up the strip job to the mines

Does it really matter what people think of that car? You haven't listened to any advice so far, so why even bother asking what people think?

What do you mean not listened to any advice? I posted some cars, people said they sucked. I confirmed they suck. NT proves to be right.

I found this BMW at the honda shop. I'm kinda leary about 33k miles. But damn it's nice.

33k is still just barely broken in

if you'd said 133k, or 233k sure, look closer, but 33k is nothing

The advice was to not blow a lot of cash on a car. It was to:

1. Get a 2-3 year old Honda or Toyota for about 13k out the door
2. Get a new Kia for about 12k out the door.
3. find something similar at a good price, that is dependable transportation.

You won't do these, because you are young, dumb, and full of cum. It's ok, we were all there, and in 10 years you can feel stupid for pissing money down the toilet.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.

i'm thinking i'm just going to buy my mom's car from her . . . it's a '97 (maybe '98) accord; has kind of high miles but i know it's well-cared for, and i know most of the miles are highway anyway. it's a good reliable car . . . but i'm still kind of sad panda that i won't be able to get that gorgeous '04 accord i posted earlier :(

Look at it this way, in five years that 04 Honda will be just as old, and you'll have saved a good deal of coin. 97 is a bit old, though. I don't care how well maintained it is, a 10 year old car will have many things that eventually need to be replaced. I think you should consider if it's worth it.

Anyways, I have 2 fairly new cars. These will be the last cars I purchase until our society gets the fck off of the internal combustion gas powered engines we've been using for the last 100 years.

yes but i think a 10-yr-old honda that i KNOW to be well-maintained is > a 9-yr-old cougar that i know has not been well-maintained hehe, which is what i've got now.

I just ran a carfax report. Seems it was a lease vehicle up until they are selling it now. Only 1 owner. Maintenance every 3000. No problems.

btw, I have the unlimited car VIN lookup on carfax if anyone wants to check a vin for 30 days.
