...and nebraska got HAMMERED by snow earlier this week. here are some pictures:

Image

this is my drive back from lincoln, i was about halfway home when things started getting bad.

Image

the view from my porch (from inside the house, as you can see by the window screen hehe) during the snowstorm.

Image

my car slowly getting more and more buried in drifts... by the time i got a chance to dig it out, i also had to contend with a HUGE pile left by the snowplows. grrr. it was two hours of hard labor that i don't want to repeat for a lonnnng time.

Image

this is the home of a kid i work with... my manager sent out an employee with a huge hemi-powered dodge ram to come pick up the night crew, and i took a picture of tuy's house because it had shit tons of drifts, coming both from the top of the house AND the lawn, blocking the porch and front door hehe

i'm about to head over to my mom's house to dig out her driveway so she doesn't have to when she gets home from california... though i should make her do it anyway since she got to spend this hellish week in balmy beach weather.

We usually end up with an end of March snow. It's like winter's last hurrah and it goes out with a bang.

Not sure we'll get it this year, though. We bought the kids new sleds for Christmas so, of course, it hasn't snowed at all.

well i'm done with the plow bank and a third of the way done with the driveway, and have just encountered a 3-foot drift that goes on for about another third of the driveway. i'm not sure if i'm gonna make it through this thing alive. my back is burning :( why on earth does my mother need such a goddamned long driveway? this is ridiculous.

Naturally.

I'm not familiar with Ohio at all, but in MN the ski slopes had little hills set aside for sledding and tubing. Some places even had a tow rope to haul your ass up to the top again. Anything like that in close proximity?

And funnily enough in the 70s all the enviromentalists were worried about another ice age coming. They even wanted to put some black soot on the poles to absorb the sun better so the poles would melt.

If the earth temperature rise another 4 degrees then it will be the temperature of earth 100,000 years or so ago.

I'd be more than happy to trade you all a few snow days in March for the 100+ degree / 90% humidity days and nights that we get for 6 months of the year.

Sorry Martrae, but people with litttle to no education in science haven't a clue of what's really going on with global warming. You can't listen to Rush Limbuag (sp) and think everything is really ok. There's a good reason why the world's scientist have been warning us on the effects of pollution and global warming for years - decades.

Republicans are too concerned with their profits to willingly accept that their actions are contributing to increases in the earth's temperatures.

you're kidding right? do you honestly think that Nebraska gets nearly as hot and humid as the deep south? if you do you really need to go back to school and retake geography, or better yet, come down and spend a summer.

i'm not talking about one or two days a year that get realllllllly hot. i'm not talking about 6 months straight that STAY constantly steaming hot and humid.

lol you think the midwest gets as steaming hot as the south and you call me the nub. rofl
