My pussy dogs

are scared shitless right now because of the thunderstorm. One is barking at the lightning, one is cowering between my legs under the desk, one is in the corner curled into the fetal position and one is hiding under the covers in my bed.

=(

Perhaps its because I am afraid and he gives me courage.

I had a cat that would try to fight the lightning

she'd get up in the window and go all snakey at it

she was also the only cat I know that instead of landing on her feet, would land face first most times =\

My cousin has a dog that his daughter picked up. The dog was obviously abused by a man before they got her, because she hates/fears all men. She tolerates my cousin, but she won't let him "take her for a walk". No matter how bad she has to go, she wont go out with him, his wife or daughters have to take her out.

The funny thing is that when there is a storm or something like that she sits at his feet and stares at hims as if to say," OK you are the Alpha Male, there is trouble out there, what is the pack going to do about it?"
The object of life is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to come screaching in to the grave sidelong in a beatup wreck of a body, loudly proclaiming "WOW What a ride!"

awww lol. Meiko is not afraid of anything, I think this is unhealthy, I have never seen a dog so fearless. Fireworks, storms, fire, nothing bothers her. The only thing that scares her is my or Aryylas's disapproval. Aryylas's mother's dogs on the other hand.... wimpy black labs lol, fireworks and storms send them running into my room to hide under the computer desk. I felt bad once, Lady, who is really really old, was in the kitchen with me when someone lit of some fireworks really close by, poor thing just pissed right there on the floor. To give you an idea this is a dog that is the epitome of obediant, she is so well behaved it is beyond me, yet the fireworks scared her so badly she pissed and the floor, something she would never do.

The one that was barking at the lightning is like that. He's scared of nothing, if he was outside he'd try to catch the lightning. Around the campfire he tries to catch sparks all night. He'll chase the four wheeler or lawn tractor or motorcycle and try to bite the tires. If he actually does get a hold of one he'll roll over with it before letting go.

He doesn't even show a reaction to being chastized. I think he's got down syndrome. When we play, wrestle, he acts like he's really mad and is going to bite you, it scares most people because he's not small, but when he grabs my arm it's real soft. If you don't know him you'd think he was attacking. He got maced once by the meter lady hehe.

Sounds exactly like how Meiko plays. Except her gentle is kind of painful sometimes, you can tell she is being very gentle but she is just big as hell so you end up getting hurt sometimes anyway. Yeah she sounds like she is about to go on a murder spree when you play with her, and the mailmen have labeled her as "vicious and dangerous" even though you could go up to her and take food out of her mouth with yours if you wanted to. She is so tolerant its stupid, she puts up with so much shit from Aryy's little brother that other dogs would never bother with.

Our younger dog is afraid of nearly everything. Strange people, strange noises, strange objects. She was afraid of our Christmas tree for about 2 weeks, and would only pass it when absolutely necessary, and even then she'd dart past at top speed while shooting it suspicious looks. She's afraid of grocery bags, boxes... basically anything out of the norm. She didn't like it when we rearranged our living room, either. We adopted her from a pet rescue place, so I don't know if something happened to make her so scared, but she's an extremely anxious dog around anything unknown. She'll hide under our desks or the bed, but first she'll cower and hide behind Ugz's legs or my legs and wait for us to protect her from the scary new package on the table. After dumping her in the kennel for a couple weeks here and there for vacations, she's gotten over a lot of that (immersion therapy, I guess), but she's still one of the most timid, anxious, neurotic doggies I know.

She'll come out of it. Both of my dogs are adoptees (the other two are the gf's) and were very similair. One was even abused, but after being in a loving home for a year now she's become a very outgoing and friendly dog.

Well, we've had her since she was just a baby. I don't know the age that dogs get weaned and given away... but I want to say it was like 3 months or something? She's now 2, so she's been with us for the better part of 2 years. While she's not as bad as she used to be, she's still pretty anxious.

That's my timid baby. And my foot. No comments, please, Kizzy. :)

She's backed into a corner of our kitchen when my friend was taking pictures of her, because she was afraid. She's pressed up against my legs and has her paw over my foot, because she's thinking I'll protect her.
