on National Geographic Channel right now about the science of martial arts...

They're measuring the force and such of blows and strikes.

Jesus Crist... some dude using some Tai form just generated a blow equal to a 35 mile an hour car crash... wtf.

Freaking boxer hit for 1000+ pounds of force.

I guess that ninjitsu shit is for real... they just showed the "death blow" is actually a fact and not fiction.

Its one of many like it that they have done.
For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

Muay Thai is the form you're thinking of. Thai Kickboxing. The guy they had on that show was a champion in the competitive sport version. Makes the American version of kickboxing look about as dangerous as flower arranging.

As for the "death blow", I think there was some misnomering there. The mythical one that I've heard talked about was supposedly just touching someone at the right spot, and they'd keel over dead hours or even days later. The one on the show was a hammer blow right over the heart, and it'd kill you basically instantly.

Some of the other facts were interesting too, like how some of the kung fu blows actually struck faster than an actual snake striking.

Tai Chi wasn't included in the show, damn shame.

Evermore , Tai Chi is a form of relaxation but it's also one of the most powerfull martial arts in the world. They use the elements of Yin and Yang. Water,Earth,Fire,Air.

muay Thai on the other hand is crazy! i mean have you seen how those guys train! aHhh when i was young my grandfather used to be a muay thai fighter then turned to a teacher. Ahh those people hit coconut trees as if they were punching bags...

About the only semi mainstream Muay Tai fighter is Tony Jaa and he has only had one movie released in the US so far, Ong`Bak: Thai Warrior. If you know someone who knows someone you can get ahold of his film The Protector which came out in 2005, but has yet to be released in the US.

Well the show changed my mind about the whole ninja thing. I always too it as a joke, seems it's for real.

Tony Jaa was one of those first few actors that really knew Muay thai on not acting about it... Let me know if anyone wants a hold of the protector lol... i can get it for ya :)
