need good 1st date ideas

Postby Tae-Bo » Mon May 14, 2007 10:51 am

hello

i need ideas for a first date for a good girl (and by good girl i mean non-slut non-crazy normal girl), i was thinking something like going to an indoor mountain climbing place here or going mountain biking (were both pretty active)

getting drunk and playing video games at my apt. wont cut it, i need some good ideas - preferably original ones that sound good to her friends when she's describing the date to them

where did you meet this girl? how do you know her? If you don't know her all that well yet, why not try something traditional like dinner out so you have time to talk and get to know each other?

Hm..first dates. I haven't been on a date in so long I don't even know (as a non-slut) how to help you out. Since I am indeed crazy and not normal..I really can't help you.

If you were taking *me* out I'd want to get some food outside somewhere when it's daylight out still, have some drinks at a shady bar and then see some live music.

I'd be interested in the indoor moutain climbing or biking maybe for the second or third date-and we could hang out during the day.

thats why i suggested the cruise. they are only about 3 ish hrs and have dinner dancing and cocktails. the crew usually puts on a show also. not overly expensive or extravagant. too bad you dont have one near you.

You can play up Zeek's idea also. just pick a spot that serves more then just dinner.

Dinner. Anything too extraordinary makes you really look like you are trying too hard.

Mountain biking doesn't seem a good idea for a first date. Or a second one. Maybe a short hike and picnic, though, would work.

Then again, Toucher, it's tough to know when you are actually serious....

Hey I thought the indoor climbing idea was good. :dunno:

But if she's not a physical kind of girl it could potentially be a disaster.

Cook dinner for her at your place.
Don't have it ready when she comes over, go out shopping for ingredients together, come back, prepare and shoot the shit while making dinner, and go from there.

Be sure to have suprises ahead of time, ie have dessert made ahead of time.

Worst case, you fuck something up and you say screw it and go out for some sushi.

thats how the get drunk and play video games usually starts.....

isnt it considered kinda forward to invite someone over to your place for the first time you hang out in a non school setting ????

i mean everytime ive hung out w/ a girl thats pretty much how it starts but still.

Cook her your best meal at your place. Make sure it smells awesome. She will remember it.

cooking dinner is a little too romantic for a first date unless they meet at chef school or something. I'd stick to dinner and the point is to have it be too short. You can't expect to learn everything about one another so a 2-3 hr dinner with some drinks is perfect. You spend time just getting to know each other and if you're at all interesting, you will plan for another date soon. spending 5-6 hours on a first date is asking for trouble.

Maybe I'm strange but I'm not a big fan of a dinner date with someone you're not comfortable with - it leaves too much room for uncomfortable silence, and I, personally, much prefer a setting that gives you something to talk about, especially where there's competition involved, ie silly sports like mini golf, bowling, batting cages, arcades (airhockey ftw) etc.

Live music is also always great.. first dates should be fun, not intimate.

Nothing too extravagent Duck. Keep it simple. Wow her with you, not with the date. My first real date with my gf I took her to a comedy club, drinks, dinner and watched a movie at my house. Simple, fun and she got to know me. That's the idea. It's hard to conversate when you are hanging from a wall.
