You messed it up.

You should have put "Which direction does she spin?" Then a lot of space between the picture and the description. The first thing I saw was the picture and then the words "counter clockwise" - so right away I am automatically thinking counter clockwise.

This was posted on another board I visit, so I'll just lazily quote my response:

Weird. First time I loaded I saw her moving counter-clockwise, then I concentrated and 'changed' it to clockwise and now that's all I can see.

Exactly the same with me. I very definitely saw counter-clockwise and studied it for a bit and didn't possibly see how there was even a remote chance she could be moving clockwise. Then I glanced away to see what that meant for me and when I looked back, she was suddenly moving clockwise.

I reloaded the page to see if it was a trick, but I still see her moving clockwise and now I can't see how I ever thought she was moving counter-clockwise.

I can't make her spin clockwise. I don't see how it's possible to see it that way.

She actually spins counter clockwise but you can fool yourself in to thinking she spins clockwise but the shadows, etc do not make sense then. Watch the shadow of her foot.

if i tip my head to one side, I can see counterclockwise now

I can see counterclockwise for the most part at will, if I really try hard, i can see clockwise but it takes a minute.

depends on what part of my screen the image is on when it loads.
At the top of my screen: clockwise & at the bottom of my screen: counterclockwise.

You're right. The shadow spins counter-clockwise, that's how I finally got her to spin that way. Now I can't get her to spin clockwise!

Can only see clockwise, can't imagine how you'd see counter-clockwise at all, even staring at the shadow.

She flips around on me...but I can't turn off the direction at will. Sometimes she's counter and sometimes clockwise.

OK, I figured out how to get her to turn counter-clockwise, but it was really counter-intuitive. Definite strong first impression was clockwise, for whatever that means.

Doesn't this have more to do with a 3 dimensional image on a 2 dimensional plane?

I never see her make a full circle unless I look at her head or about the chest line up and can "blink" to make her go clock vs. counter clock. The moment I start looking at the waist, legs, etc she never makes a full circle and for me, she goes clockwise, and just before her leg moves "behind" her, the image then goes counter clockwise.

Not sure WTF that means for me LOL.

I'm assuming this can be done with any solid color and an image perceived to be 3d on a 2d plane. There are several of these mind fuck things out there though. Here is a good one:

I've made this dragon out of construction paper for my kids, it is really cool. Oddly enough even though you KNOW it is made "inversely" your brain just won't let you see it right.

    EDIT
Just realized that video left you hanging.

The really odd thing is that it's the opposite foot that is lifted when you inverse it.

Her left leg is raised going one way and when she's going the other it's her right.

    Very odd.

I got her to switch to counter-clockwise..neat. it's neat how your brain can only see it one way or the other...even when I got her to switch to counter I thought about how I saw her spinning the other way and all my brain could do was keep her going in that direction, like it was tricked..even though i knew i saw it the other way.

and while I was texting someone I could see her spinning in my peripheral.. she was going clockwise again-which was the first/natural way I saw it..I thought that was neat too.

edit-I didn't read zan's post but I just did and realized that I noticed what he said too, about the leg switching from left to right..I guess that is why it tricked my brain! when I was determining which way she was spinning (the first time) I said "clockwise" and then examined her leg/foot to be sure...
