Having a great time playing. We started up on the RP server in an attempt to avoid douchebaggery. So far, so good. The mercs are awesome. No more LFG for hours. My son and I can do a lot of content, including LDoN adventures with the two of us plus a rogue and healer merc. There is a lot of overpowered loot and the leveling happens way too fast IMO but overall, it's been great fun. We're lvl 36 now.
Tried playing my old characters. Completely and totally lost, bank full of SHIT that is totally worthless now and all the gear I worked so hard to get is worse than the diaper you are born in now.
I remade Tossica on Firiona Vie server. Lvl 24 now. Love much of the game but the leveling is really way too fast, IMO. Hopefully it slows down a bit and the game gets harder.

Haven't met a douche yet on FV. It's the Roleplay server. They have an interesting no "no drop" thing so you can trade items that would be no drop on another server. Look me up if you go anywhere with it.
My other two characters on FV are Kyojita <my rogue> and Ugun <my SK>.
I tried chatting with Toss last night but we couldn't understand each others language.. Forget about that...doh. Probably better to use IM or voice to chat.. How does EQs voice system work?

All you have to do is learn the common language of the server, Elvish. Train one point at your guildmaster and then you can spam your chat if you have a merc and skill up.
I entered Lower Guk at lvl 24 and left at lvl 36 last night. The leveling is ridiculously fast but I gotta say, soloing a dungeon that kicked my ass so many times in the past did feel good.
I haven't used the EQ voice system. I find teamspeak and the like to be irritating. Nothing like playing with a group of gnomes, one of which has a deep southern drawl. haha Kinda takes you out of the moment.
I did 45 minutes and got to level 5. I'll probably play a long session tonight. Outside of logging in a few times with 10sun in a clueless manner, I haven't played EQ in a looong time.

I have a Bloodbone mercenary tank. Was taking 3-4 reds at a time in Guk. Once you get out of the tutorial and in to a dungeon with a merc you gain a level every 15 min or so, it seems.
I think the plan is to lvl to 50 or 51 whenever it is you can start earning AAs and then just stay at that level until we're bored of all the lvl 50 content then level up to 65 and sit there for a while, etc. It will give people a chance to catch up or play a couple characters up and have options. The good thing about mercs is that you really only need 2-3 people to have a really kick ass group now and do some actual dungeon crawls since all the old content is completely abandoned.
Ding! 48. Gonna stop at 51 and get AA's until folks catch up or whatever. Leveling is a joke now. Don't know why I bothered buying 1/2 the spells in my book.
