Tank pictures

Postby Arlos » Tue Jul 15, 2014 10:26 am

Here in the bay area existed one of the biggest armored vehicle collections anywhere in the world, called the Littlefield collection. I actually didn't know about this until VERY recently. Unfortunately, Mr. Littlefield died of cancer a couple years back, and so the collection needed to change hands. So, what they did is they held an auction to sell off some of the vehicles to pay for a new museum for them in Stow, Mass, plus pay for their transport. I went and toured the place on the last day it was open to the public before the auction happened.

That was a 17 pounder anti-tank gun that the infantry would use, actually. Had a couple wheels on it, so it could be towed behind something like a trailer, or be moved around by the crew. The kid in question is my 6-year old nephew, and he definitely got a big kick from seeing tank after tank after tank in real life, instead of just video games.
