Snow sports

Postby Drem » Wed Feb 08, 2017 5:14 pm

In this time of political idiocy all I can really do is get away from it. Been dabbling in snowboarding for the first time this season. It's great but it's way harder than I thought. Just got a snow shovel and a probe for some back country action next week

Any of you guys do anything? Climbing, snowshoeing, snow camping, skiing?

i do occasional hiking and such in local parks, though nebraska is flat AF so there isn't really any opportunity for gravity-based action like snowboarding

i do take my bike out to some trails a few times a month when the weather cooperates, good to get out and exchange traffic sounds for bird calls and the swish of trees in the wind

2-3 times a summer we'll hit a lake but i'm always a bit weirded out by what's in the lake (agricultural runoff, algae blooms, dead things, kids' urine, etc) so i never have a ton of fun

camping from time to time is good, esp if you go in the offseason to a state park far away from I-80
