Shipping Guns

Postby Foutty » Mon Apr 04, 2005 5:05 pm

I recently inherited some rifles. My father has them now, and its about a 10 hour drive to where he is at. Is there a way to ship them?

I'm not sure how many, 3 or 4 I believe. They havent been fired in in at least 40 years. I'm not a gun guy at all, but they've been in the family for a long time and would really like to keep it that way

Any help would be much appreciated!

First, get a box. Then put the rifles into the box. Package them so that they aren't bouncing around in the box. Tape the box closed. Address it. Take it to your local post office and mail it.

VOILA!

There's no law against shipping your own property - even if they're guns.

I would contact the post office or look on their website first.

I would trust UPS more than the post office and won't cost much more if anything.

Yup, I would go with UPS for those. They will cost you a bit though because of the size of the boxes. I recently sent some exhaust pipes off to a bud (which are about the same length as the average rifle and it cost me a bit more but nothing major.

Call em up on the phone and let them know what you have and how many. I'm sure they'll flag em or something.

My dad trades/sells/buys guns for a hobby and ships them all of the time. You shouldn't have a problem using UPS.
