Beware of IKEA

Postby Kramer » Mon Oct 03, 2005 9:49 am

so my wife and i bought our bedframe and side tables from IKEA a little over a year ago. we just moved and one of our bonehead friends lost some of the hardware in transit. no worries. so i call up IKEA and tel them what happened. they tell me. "sir, we do not keep a stock of replacement parts, you will have to check with your local store or other stores in the US to see if they HAPPEN to have any replacement parts, and even them it may not be a whole set.

:eyecrazy:

so i tel lthem how amazing that is. that they fabricate TOTALLY UNIQUE hardware for their beds, shit you can't pick up at a hardware store, and then refuse to keep a stock to replace them if they are lost or whatever?????

so beware.

Call the store, tell them there was some hardware missing, and you want it replaced, or you will return it.

IKEA is the worst shopping experience in the whole god damned world. All those arrows on the ground, having to go to 5 different floors to get a full bed set. Fuck that place.

My mom just took a job at the new IKEA in MA, I think it's in AVON? What's that town with "The Christmas Tree" shop, next to "Jordans Furniture." I think it's over there :dunno:

    tee hee hee.

i am sure it is a great place to work, just beware if you are looking to buy something that requires quite a bit of assembly, might just end with a bonfire celebrating your next move, rather than a large bedframe

I want a bedframe and a new couch set. Our current couches are so bulky and...white...they take up too much room in our small apartment.
We have no headboard or anything and I think that looks tacky.

I went to IKEA, they finally opened one in Frisco by us, and I found a lot of other things I wanted to buy. I dont care about parts, my dad can ghetto rig anything.

That IKEA just opened about a month ago and the parking in it sucks some balls. It's like going to a football game and parking in the fields around it, because thats what youre doing, there is a small parking lot and a whole buch of fields used as parking lots. It sucks taking a shitty Neon over the bumps because I am possitive my car is just going to fall the hell apart.

Their cinnamon rolls arent good. They smell good, but they are really dry.

someone should do a short or a piece in a film about what a time warp IKEA is, they get you in and you can't even leave until you have wandered through their giant mouse maze, THEN you arrive at the large eating area and cafeteria (at least in Houston) just so you can make the last leg of the journey..... never less than 3 hours when I am with a female and going to IKEA!!!!!

I skip through the eating place, but the cinnamon rolls were in between the registers and the exit.
I was in there for about 3 hours also. I skipped through a lot of it by going by "shortcuts" as they label them, but you are still going through the unwanted section.

          Anyway, I love that place.

let me note here that YOU will walk past the exact same isle 4or 5 times hoping that with in the past 30 seconds a whole new display has arrived for you to peruse through. And tthen you have to have the one sided conversation to convince yourself you like something, shortly followed by the thought process of Hey I like it but I wanna see if there is anything better at that exact same thought now.
