best solo class eq2 so far?

Postby legeriun » Fri Dec 03, 2004 12:24 pm

I'm playing a 21 ranger, and he is starting to suck for soloing. My friends 20 monk can kill stuff that i cant kill. I would even say i have better armor than he does(respective to other players of the class).

I've seen clerics solo stuff that i cant, are they a good solo class?

Anyone know the best class for solo? Maybe ench for charm killing or something?

Anything that heals > anything that doesn't

Scouts are great at soloing, but it's an art form that is hard to master. Ranger might be a bit weaker overall because a lot of their stuff ends up being ranged, yes?

As a rogue, I have little trouble going through waves of solo mobs, whites, even yellows.

No, my Ranger can outsolo any healing class. Period.

My DPS is sick at 22.

I can fast solo same level mobs with no downtime.

If I duo with a bruiser, I dont need a healer. We can kill 24-25 mobs with the Bruiser still at 50%+ health. Then I pull and tank while he heals.

Healers are needed for groups. For small groups, they aren't.

Can your ranger solo Green or Blue ^^?

Prolly not. Your DPS isn't enough to kill them before they kill you, hence why healing > all.

I've seen my wife do it, so I know cleric's can do the group ^^ stuff

He said same level mobs, Donnel. That would be white con.

Green < White right?

However Green Group ^^ > White Solo any day of the week.

The OP asked for best solo class, soloing Green Group ^^ is better xp (as long as your downtime isn't too much) then white or yellow solo mobs.

Donnel is talking elite mobs. The ^^ on their name

Yes, I can kill them, Donnel, and that's all fine and dandy, but while I'm on my 5th solo even con non-elite, your wife will still be recovering from that one fight.

And yes, I can kill green con elites. The reason I don't is the exp sucks and the downtime is a lot longer. No class in the 20s can reliably kill blue elites.

The ranged attack is a good reason why I solo well. I can do a decent amount of damage before they reach me, then just cycle through 5 attacks and stun while HOing.

I group and talk to healers often. They can't solo fast or as well because their DPS is low.

My wife does.

Blues cause the full minute downtime for a good chunk of xp.

Greens don't cost her alot of downtime at all.

What level is she and what mobs is she fighting?

Anwyays, cleric DPS is ass. Soloing is moreso about DPS.
I'm sure she won't die, but from what I've seen any knowledgeable Ranger will get more exp than a knowledgeable healer.

Prolly so.

Look I won't hash this out with you, but in my personal opinion, the ability to consistently remain alive (aka not die and getting in debt) while still getting good xp is what qualifies as a good soloer.

I love soloing with my rogue so believe me when I say I think they are great soloers. Survivability aside, soloing as a scout would be my number 1 choice.

Now if they would just fix strangling shot so I had a decent opening move.

Cleric 16 can solo still so far i do not know how i will fare past 20

Could however use a few hints / spoilers on where to solo now .... I could use a steady flow of white or yellow cons singles.

Any ideas ?

At 16, if you are from Qeynos the area around the Sword thing is really nice.

At 18 you can move near Gnollslayer Keep. The skeletons on the road are nice for 18-19, as well as various wildlife.

At 20, down near Holly Windstalkers site the Great Kodiaks and Hunting Stalkers are good exp.

In 22 levels I can count the times solo I've died on one hand, Donnel. Its a lot less than a few hours with a bad group.

I'm levelling a Shaman too so I'll compare notes in regards to him soloing.

Are the mobs near the coast too low? I recall they were decent for a bit.

Darkclaw Crabs North of the Hidden Vale.

Like I said personal preference Lyion.

Although honestly if we have such a varied opinion (and I am sure there are mage and fighter variants too) maybe sony hit there mark of making all classes vialble soloers?

17 brawler solos just fine also. Yellow solos are cake. Green ^^ group mobs are pretty easy as well. Dont even need all my defensive buffs for one. Can take 3 or 4 green groups mobs at a time, 2 blue, or 2 green^ at a time. And of course, Feign Death is still awesome for accidental agro, roamers, gettig your ass beat etc.

I am a Ranger and I can pretty much solo at will. In fact I don't think I've run into a class yet that can solo as well as a Predator / Ranger - the only exception is a Brawler... The amount of damage we deal is sick... with ranged and melee.

Actually, there is an island by the mites to the left (as you are looking out) of the NQ gate in Antonica - has lots of undead on it. At 16 I could solo the Risen Protectors with no problem - actually *chain kill* them, only having to rest after every three.... the decayed skells are a different story - they hit to hard and have way to many hit points for any 16 to solo... they are both blue and give excellent exp - not to mention you can pull them to the island where the guards are at in case you get into trouble.

Was talking to someone last night about the Ranger class - she/he/whatever swares up and down that one of their guild level 22 Rangers can do 900 with a single hit - I assume that's shadowblade... Not sure how much truth there is in that, as it stands at level 17 the highest single hit I've gotten has been 133. /shrug

My guardian can solo Green ^^ and some Blue ^^ but it eats up my power.

Soloing white and yellow regular mobs is np.

I do ASS damage but I can take a punch.

I hate to solo its lame and boring.

I break 400 with styled attacks, but nowhere near 900.

The main trick with the Ranger is knowing the class. Between Ranged, Poison, HO, Styles, and stun/positionals I really think its the easiest class from 1 to 30.

Other classes are 'simpler', such as healers, but for efficiency the Ranger is damn good.

something that might affect soloing. Mob difficulty, at least in some cases, is going to be increased, bank on it. I know people in a guild on my server that are 29th+ level already. Anyway, they are killing 40th level mobs. Thats how they are levelling so quickly. So, at least at the higher end, expect things to get tougher. Im sure will translate to a soloing nerf also.

Artannis who is a friend of Goosse and I and formerly an LoS'er here on the nameless is saying that necro's are super sick at damage. Might want to check them out for soloing.

Easy enough to chech. A Shadowblade (considered melee hit I believe) for 900 at this point in the game would show up pretty high on your servers rankings for highest melee hit.
