Patch sneak peek

Postby Tacks » Thu Dec 16, 2004 11:34 am

Don't get too upset, I think this is just a partial list.

Player versus Player
· Gurubashi Arena – The arena in Stranglethorn Vale has been changed so that free-for-all PvP will only take place on the floor of the arena, and no longer in the stands or on the entrance ramp. Please keep in mind that on PvP realms, members of the opposite faction can still attack you anywhere in the arena because Stranglethorn Vale is a contested area.
· There is now a short countdown before a duel starts.

Professions
· Fishing for high-level zones has been restored.
· Fishing profession now requires a minimum character level, like the other professions do. Any character who already has a fishing profession past the intended level will not be affected.
· The recipes for Heavy Mageweave Bandage, Runecloth Bandage, and Heavy Runecloth Bandage can be learned by visiting your faction's Artisan First Aid questgiver.
· Sell prices on Runecloth Bandages and Heavy Runecloth Bandages have been reduced.
· Expert First Aid books moved to a more appropriate vendor for the Horde. New vendor is still within the same general area as the previous one.

Warriors
· New Ability: Pummel (Berserker Stance) (Level 38) - Instant attack that causes damage and interrupts spellcasting for a short duration.
· Shield Bash: No longer usable in Berserker Stance.
· Berserker Stance: Now increases critical strike chance by 3% instead of granting 10% melee haste. Extra damage taken reduced from 20% to 10%.

Rogue
· Vanish will now break root and slow effects.

Priest
· New Spell: Prayer of Fortitude (Level 48) - Longer lasting Power Word: Fortitude spell that buffs the entire group. Requires a reagent to cast. (Spell is available via loot drop only.)

Nice spell for priests. Hopefully it isn't 1800 mana to cast though (I'm probably too low actually :( ).

If you're talking about the duel wield "bug" it's not a bug. It's intended to miss 25% of the time. I'd rather they gave me back bucklers. I'd use 1 dagger and a shield and end up tanking better and doing just as much damage.

Dual wielding I have accepted sucks for missing, I am referring to several if not most warriors are having serious issues with missing when using 2 handers or 1 handers with a shield, which is causing issue with rage generation.

It's not just warriors. That's how it was during beta as well. During the one patch that really changed how the game felt EVERYONE was missing alot more. It's not a warrior issue at all, it's a gameplay design issue. They did it because melees were soloing high level mobs way too easily and casters were getting resisted 100% of the time. It made it so it was like Kunark in EQ. The melee classes could do damage as long as they got healed but the casters were essentially worthless with resists. The higher the level of mob you fight, the more chance you have at missing.

I hear rumors about the 1h/shield thing that if you ever train dual wield period, you are always considered dual wielding due to a bug. No proof, just what some people were speculating.

Oh you mean now that the spell works exactly how it was supposed to work to begin with? What's the recast on Wing Clip?

You do realize that Vanish is on a 5 minute timer and takes a reagent to use right?

I'm like 15-0 vs Hunters. Hunters are like the pussies of the game. They're also what 35% of the playerbase plays.

and most of the people that play wow are idiots so there's an inordinate number of stupid hunters playing

if i get the drop on a rogue, no questions asked i'll win, if i'm killing a mob and the rogue sneaks from behind me and attacks me, then it's closer, it then all relies on if wing clip will land and i can get concussive blast off fast enough

You wouldn't beat me, I assure you. I have a pretty much fail-safe tactic against hunters. I killed a 46 when I was 40 the other day. Engineering is your friend.

I'm required to flex my e-wang in these situations.

Also what is up with people saying "OMGZ I'LL NEVER WIN IF THE ROGUE IS STEALTH". That's like telling a hunter not to fight with his pet. Or telling a druid he can't use bear form.

yeah i know, i'm not saying the class is spectacular at pvp or anything, but on a pvp server where i can track people from afar and hunt them down and open up with 350+ hp shot, then DoT, snare, and already have a trap up before they even see where i am, they're pretty useful in situations like that, and in group pvp especially

in duels where everyone starts off like 5 feet from each other and shit like that, then no, hunters are no good, but on a pvp server fights never start that way

and plus you have to factor in how fucking sweet i am

Taxx, warriors have to have a complaint over the miss issues more than any other class. If we do not hit mob, we do not generate rage. We have no rage, we are useless at our job. Basically it would be like saying Priests can only generate mana during battle or what is it rogues use? the yellow bar, could you imagine going into every fight with that at zero? I am not whining, I am just saying, miss rate fucks warriors in the goat ass, where it just annoys other classes.

How does it not effect rogues? Because of the "miss rate" why would anyone choose a rogue when you can get a mage with gauranteed dps?

why do some people say paladins need to be nerfed? not being facetious or trying to stir up shit or anything, but i've fought paladins my level (37) and although they are tougher than a lot of other classes, i can still kill them if i land mana drain arrow and kite them for a bit (aspect of the cheetah works wonders)

i guess i can see if you're a pure melee or something, but i've never experienced anything out of the ordinary with them /shrug

I play a warrior and I jumped a Paladin that was 2 levels higher than me a couple days ago. I killed him down to nothing FOUR times in a row while he did that gay DA/Heal bullshit and he still managed to beat me. It is literally impossible for me to effectively fight against a Paladin and win. I just think there should be some kind of limitation on them, because I run into Paladins very regularly in Stranglehorn Vale and it's pretty frustrating.
