As it is a fine animal skin, it should be massaged with oil and kept in a warm dark place, not too dry as it may crack, but not too wet, just enough to keep it limber. My accompanying pole will also need to be taken care of. I fear I may have let it get too wet recently, so you may have to dry it off and then take care of it in a similar fashion. Please, no vegetable oils though.
